GOP Senators’ Top Priority After Failed Midterms Is Helping Democrats Trample The Meaning Of Marriage
The Federalist ^ | NOVEMBER 15, 2022 | SHAWN FLEETWOOD

The ‘Respect for Marriage Act’ would open the floodgates for leftists to wage an all-out legal assault against any American obeying the Word of God.

Having seemingly learned nothing from their losses in the 2022 midterms, Senate Republicans are preparing to sell out their voters by working with their Democrat colleagues to alter the definition of marriage under federal law by the end of this week.

On Monday, a bipartisan group of senators announced they had reached an agreement on adding an amendment to the deceptively named, “Respect for Marriage Act,” which they claim would both codify same-sex marriage into federal law and protect “Americans’ religious liberties and diverse beliefs.”

Under the proposed legislation, states would be legally prevented from denying “full faith and credit to any public act, record, or judicial proceeding” with respect to marriages between individuals based on “sex, race, ethnicity, or national origin.” The Democrat-controlled House had previously passed an earlier version of the bill this year, with the help of 47 Republicans.

If Congress successfully passes it, the measure would allow left-wing activists to use the legal system to harass religious Americans and institutions for simply exercising their God-given rights. As the Family Heritage Alliance noted, the bill “would require federal recognition of any one state’s definition of marriage without any parameters,” including “open marriages [and] marriages involving a minor or relative,” and “any other new definition of marriage that a state chooses to adopt could be recognized federally.”

Organizations such as the Colson Center have also highlighted the dangers of the legislation, specifically the door it leaves open for Democrats to codify radical gender theory into federal law.

There is no need for this law.

This is an unforced error.

It does not matter if you are for or against gay marriage, this is not necessary.

What exactly does the Republican party stand for?

What is their platform?

Where is the party for social and economic conservatism?

We really are in dire need of a true, honest and committed opposition party to take on the Communists. The feckless, worthless, useless GOP ain’t it.

MAGA PARTY!!

This simply means that conservative Christians will have to stand for the truth (marriage is between one man and one woman).

If, during that stand, you are arrested and persecuted, well, the RNC is looking the other way.....

And, Mitch is hoping to add another sure vote to the cause with the ranked-choice system in Alaska that is hoping will save Murkowski.

.
It’s pathetic.

People actually believed Hannity and GOP Leadership that there would be Real Investigations after the House is regained.

We just watched them pass Joe Biden’s entire agenda for two years - sans one.
And they knew they had the Votes for that one.

For anyone to cite 51 in Senate or 218 in the House hasn’t been paying attention for the last 20 years.

80 House Republicans voted to Fund a new Fed Database to track the Vaccination status of Americans and share with other agencies. When their base was 80% against it.

Trump stands for no foreign wars, energy independence, strong borders, amazing economy (US economy under Trump was best ever in world history). My advice to republicans..focus on economy and stay out of social issues.

What do these Republican turncoats have to gain by voting for this bill? They can just vote “no” in good conscience and adhere to the official Republican platform in good faith.

Nope, I wont,

Happens that all the GOP in the election for my county were conservatives.

And that is what I have voted for since Trumps first term. And when you find out if one of those on your ballot is for this kind of immorality, then do like I do, call their campaigns and tell them you'll work day and night to make sure they never see the office they are running for.

They can go roll out dough, and stick their ugly faces in it and make PIG COOKIES.

If anyone has learned anything about the leftist agenda, it means that what their legislation says won’t be foisted on Christians or people of conscience will be foisted on them. It is the anti-freedom bill.

Which puts me into a conflict with DJT.

“What exactly does the Republican party stand for?”

Exactly what the very worst of the Democrats stand for — just a little bit later.

This is a hideous, abusive, intrusion into the rights of ordinary, middle class americans about which neither party gives a damn.

This is an unforced error.

Why do we keep making the assumption that when the GOP does things they say they oppose it's an error? It's not. They aren't who they say they are.

Good luck with that.
