Alternate headline: Majority of Americans cannot understand how their bank accounts are overdrawn when they still have checks in their checkbooks.

Majority of Americans Back New Stimulus Checks To Combat Inflation
^^This^^
This is why i am not worked up about this election. There’s a devil on my shoulder that keeps telling me to allow the ‘Progressives’ to feel the full brunt of their vote.
(Elections have consequences- Obama)
We’re far past fixing this. Change my mind.

Looks like majority of Americans are the same folks who lobbied to have the Build Back Better spendfest changed to the Inflation Reduction Act. And I thought there was no one dumber than Krugman on this planet. Apparently, I was wrong

Combating inflation by making it worse doesn't make a lot of sense.

Doesn’t matter. They’re not concerned with how pumping free money into the economy would and did cause inflationary pressure as well as the post covid pay hikes (13-15/hr) for entry level jobs or supply chain disruptions or Joe’s war on oil… some of this was preventable (or at least mitigation was possible) but we probably need a recession to reset the business cycle, get people in jobs to stay in jobs, get pricing under control.

Putin is not why we’re above $3 a gallon for gas. The people hurting aren’t at the bottom, they are middle class where wages compression means they aren’t keeping up with inflation unlike their entry level coworkers who have so much extra money with less debt they don’t necessarily even have the pressure of going to work to pay bills. Instead they are splurging, increasing demand that wouldn’t normally be there.

I would take an inflation stimulus check though. It’ll just be a refund on my tax bill.
