Thursday, during his show’s opening monologue, FNC host Tucker Carlson speculated why Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) was a vociferous proponent of a war against Russia.
According to Carlson, Raskin’s public remarks showed he was against Russia because it was an “orthodox Christian country with traditional social values.”

Stop helping Putin masquerade as some kind of protector of Christian values. Russia is the abortion capital of the world. The Russian Orthodox Church inside Russia is nearly all dead.
Nothing an idiot like Raskin says can change that.
Why do you and Raskin insist that my family’s tax dollars pay for your war against Russia? If you want the war, you , Raskin, Pelosi , Biden and the rest of you should volunteer money out of your own family’s budgets— and stop forcing my family to fund your war
I don’t care what Carlson or Raskin wants.
I’m looking forward to the partitioning of Ukraine into Polish west, Russian east, and a tiny bit of territory in between for Zalensky and his rainbow brigade.
As part of the Nazis’ attempt to purify German society and propagate an “Aryan master race,” they condemned homosexuals as “socially aberrant.” Soon after taking office on January 30, 1933, Hitler banned all gay and lesbian organizations. Brownshirted storm troopers raided the institutions and gathering places of homosexuals. While this subculture had flourished in the relative freedom of the 1920s, Nazi tactics greatly weakened it and drove it underground.

I want NEW leadership for Ukraine, that is thoroughly Orthodox (under Metropolitan Onufriy please) and at peace with Russia and its other neighbors!!!!
Zelensky and his family can go live in Canada, where there are many Ukrainians. The homo brigade can go fry ice!!!!
Catholic Church is working on a one world religion as I speak
OK, Kanye.
Lightman, it is not that simple.
Note that Poland does not want western Ukraine - even the most die-hard nationalists in Konfederacja at the most want Lwów (though they don’t explain how making it an island like West Berlin would help). Most Poles would like an acknowledgement of Poland and Ukraine’s shared past in Lwów/L’viv and that’s it.
The majority of Western Ukraine are NOT Poles or Polish speakers - remember that ethnicity is a very fluid concept.
My wife’s great-grandmother was a Ruthenian Latin rite Catholic who got married to a Ruthenian Byzantine rite Catholic. They agreed that the girls would be brought up Latin rite and the boys to be Byzantine rite. And that’s repeated in many families.
Also many “Polish gentry” i.e. szlachta, from the east were Ruthenian in origin who adopted the Polish language and became Latin rite Catholic.
Similarly in the east the “ethnicity” is so fluid - what is the difference between a Russian in Belgorad and a Ukrainian in Kharkiv - even assuming that the Ukrainian is a purely Ukrainian speaker? Next to nothing - their languages are mutually intelligible and they are both Eastern Orthodox and both Slavic in culture. The only difference is political.
Please don’t believe this as a war against Russia leave alone against Eastern Orthodoxy (the latter is even stranger as the Ukrainians are majority Eastern Orthodox).
This is also not a cultural war as Putin and his band have tried to portray it. Both Ukrainians and Russians are far less religious than even the average American - and I include the Muslim Russians among those.
This war was simply because Putin, who has been a dictator for 22 years, did not want to see an East Slavic state become less corrupt and more democratic.
It is bad enough that the Central European Slavic states (from Putin’s point of view) embraced democracy and showed an alternative to the Mongol Khaganate idea of Russia, but if Ukraine (i.e. Red Russia - “red” meaning south) took a low corruption stance, then next you would have peasants in Black Russia (”black” meaning north in the Turkic cardinal system adopted by the East Slavs - “white” meant west as in white Russia ie. “bela”Rus and “blue” meant east) would also rebel and ask for the same.
The ordinary Russian lives a poor life outside the megapolis of St Petersburg and Moscow - and that’s because the oligarchs have robbed so much of it.
Ukraine was only slightly better, but it was moving towards a brighter future.
Remember that the monks in Kyiv helped the protesters in 2014
There are many “official” narratives out there. Just like there are many Mockingbird Media sources (CNN, MSNBC, ABC, etc.) Now read the truth that is painstakingly documented and referenced by people who were related to, and worked with, NAZI leadership, “The Pink Swastika”, by Scott Lively, and Kevin Abrams.
you want a theocracy in Ukraine?
Note that the leadership in Russia and Belarus aren't even mildly Orthodox in practice - Lukashenko or Putin are no more poster boys for Orthodoxy than paedo Biden is a poster boy for Catholicism.
What do you mean by "thoroughly Orthodox"? you mean upholding Christian values? Then I agree - but that is not the same as "being under the Kremlin's thumb"
and at peace with Russia and its other neighbors!!!!
Ukraine was at peace with Russia and its other neighbours in 2013. But then Putin invaded.
That's the thing - Putin invades his neighbors and hasn't learnt that that is not acceptable.
This war is about Putin's ego not about anything good for Russia or Eastern Orthodoxy
Does your husband believe in the divinity of Jesus?
the funds are for Ukraine to DEFEND itself. Ukraine has not attacked Russia - rather it was Putin's army that attacked Ukraine, that invaded Ukraine.
This war is not against Russia but for Ukraine to defend itself from Putin's invasion
True - for Russia to reflect it's people's Christian values, Putin and his oligarchs need to go
Putin is bad for Russia
Good post. I agree with most of what you say, but I don’t believe that Putin wanted to stop Ukraine from becoming more democratic and less corrupt. He wanted to stop it from falling under Western influence and becoming part of an alliance against Russia (also Russian internal political concerns and land acquisitions may have been involved). At this point, I’m skeptical about just how much falling under Western influence means becoming more democratic and less corrupt.
Why don’t you, Pelosi, Cheney, Raskin, Biden and your other Ukraine allies send your own money for your Ukraine-Russia war, instead of forcing the rest of us to pay for it - when we can barely meet our own bills in this Biden inflation economy? You big-spending-government folks are all the same - spend spend spend, with other peoples money
