To put it another way...going back to my stellar "career" in the Army,in BCT I feared our junior Drill Sgt,a true psychopath,so I obeyed him.There wasn't an ounce of respect involved. However,knowing that he had done two combat tours in Vietnam before I met him (he had a CIB) I now wonder what kind of a guy he might have been before his first tour.
