Montana woman shoots, skins Siberian husky she mistook for a wolf Amanda Rose Barnes insisted she acted in self-defense after the pooch growled at her.
A Montana woman who shot and skinned a Siberian husky she mistook for a wolf on a hunting trip, and then posted the gruesome pictures on social media, has sparked public outrage – and a police investigation.
Amber Rose Barnes, 36, of Martin City, faced swift backlash after she bragged about the kill on Facebook.
"So this morning I set out for a solo predator hunt for a fall black bear however I got the opportunity to take another predator wolf pup 2022 was a great feeling to text my man and say I just smoked a wolf pup #firstworld #onelesspredatorMT," she wrote above five photos of her posing with the bloodied pooch.
In one picture, the skinned husky is sprawled out on her flatbed truck as she smiles broadly, stroking the pup's lifeless head with her right hand and clutching her rifle with her left.

Agreed.
I’ve been attacked by a big, overly angry
dog while I was just walking down the road.
Just so happens, our local sheriff was
cruising by, and witnessed the attack.
The sheriff made a u-turn and pulled
up behind me and the dog who had my ankle
clamped down. The sheriff had to beat the
dog off of me with his Billy club.
The dog then turned his attention to
the sheriff. Bang!
Short, sweet and to the point.
Thumbs up.
Not here, shoot at will.
That’s crazy, but I’m not shocked; while young people today have more certificates and diplomas than prior generations, there is no doubt in my mind that they are the least “learned” generation ever.
I’m not talking about bad work habits or political views or inability to change a tire; I’m talking about the lack of knowledge of everything in general. Worse, they don’t even realize it.
Stupid woman.
No one that hurts dogs will ever be my friend.
How about a pic of her with a skinned Maine Coon cat she felt threatened by....?
A Montana woman (via Simi Valley, California) blah blah blah...

Reminds me of that HUGE deer I took last year. Apart from being way bigger than any deer I’d ever seen, its venison oddly tasted a lot like beef.
1) Some dog breeds look very wolfish. Siberian huskies, for example.
2) Feral dogs are a menace. I don’t have much sympathy for them.
3) People who dump dogs in the wild are responsible for the existence of feral dogs. They deserve a swift kick in the rump.
4) “Social media” sucks.
Damn straight!
Groundhogs ...
I HATE groundhogs.
Happiness is a 55gr hollowpoint turning a groundhog inside-out.
Book smart.
Life stupid.
She, and the humane society, are guilty! the thought of exterminating abandoned pets is unthinkable. J/K
Well said, sir. Glad to see a voice of SANITY on this thread.
I agree... If I’m in the woods and something growls at me it’s dead. And if the broad skinned it immediately tells me she wasn’t a novice Hunter...
My niece & her husband got a cat this way. Student(s) just left him outside at the apartment complex when they moved. People gave him a little food here & there so he’d been hanging around for weeks until my niece moved to that complex & took him in. He was a wonderful cat, very loving, never any trouble. He was older when they rescued him but his last years were good ones - lost him 2 years ago at a very elderly age.
I may be wrong here but I was taught that one of the fundamental rules of shooting is to know what you’re shooting at.
Nobody has a problem with her shooting an animal that threatened her. She's stupid for shooting and skinning a dog, and then boasting she killed a wolf.
