Montana woman shoots, skins Siberian husky she mistook for a wolf Amanda Rose Barnes insisted she acted in self-defense after the pooch growled at her.

A Montana woman who shot and skinned a Siberian husky she mistook for a wolf on a hunting trip, and then posted the gruesome pictures on social media, has sparked public outrage – and a police investigation.

Amber Rose Barnes, 36, of Martin City, faced swift backlash after she bragged about the kill on Facebook.

"So this morning I set out for a solo predator hunt for a fall black bear however I got the opportunity to take another predator wolf pup 2022 was a great feeling to text my man and say I just smoked a wolf pup #firstworld #onelesspredatorMT," she wrote above five photos of her posing with the bloodied pooch.

In one picture, the skinned husky is sprawled out on her flatbed truck as she smiles broadly, stroking the pup's lifeless head with her right hand and clutching her rifle with her left.

She needs to lose her rights to firearms as well as hunting.

They are.

Unless they are attacking you.

Which is what she seems to be claiming.

Wonder if it was a LGD and she was where she should not have been.

Why the f8ckk was a husky anywhere she was hunting and it growled at her? Sorry, smoke anything that threatens you. Do they not have leash laws?

Alternate headlines, "woman get mauled by Husky" and everyone says, Why didn't she shoot it? #SucksToBeThatDogInThatSituation. Human lives. Now, we can debate her not knowing the difference. totally different topic. M2C

She also claims she had a license to hunt wolves. I didn’t know there was such a thing.

In any case there are some other idiots, possibly criminals, in this story. Whoever dumped 19 Siberian Huskies in the wild needs a little time out from society.

I never heard of it in the lower 48 but hunting trips in other states are not in the budget right now so they could have changed the laws.

Said that dogs had Parvo. I agree the person who dumped them should be in deep kimchee.

Odds are 100-1 that whoever dumped them runs a puppy mill of Huskies and when they found out they had Parvo decided the vet bills would be a major profit killer.

Some veterinarian around there knows who it is.

Possible.

Although why someone would do mixed breeds at puppy mill is beyond me.

Now that I have done a little research I just think the lady is just regular stupid not criminal stupid.

If you are going to hunt something you should know what the animal looks like.

Of course every year I paint COW in blaze orange on the side of our dairy cows in the hopes of keeping them safe.

But the person who dumped the dogs, criminal stupid.

Parvo can spread to other kinds of animals.

If you can not afford the vet bills it is your responsibility to put your dog down.

I have no problems with this. She thought it was a wolf.

A dog is just an animal. A feral dog is also just an animal.

I don’t think the woman who shot the dog did anything criminal. Provided she’s telling the truth about it appearing to be ready to attack and having a wolf hunting license.

I agree that she’s stupid. If she can’t tell the difference between a Huskie and a wolf she should stick to hunting wabbits.

Apparently the authorities have found most of the other dogs. A domesticated animal left in the wild would face a horrible death. Being shot would be a kindness in comparison.

A dog is just an animal.

A cat is just an animal. A dog is a dog (unless it’s one of those little yappy ones, then it’s a cat).
