While much attention has been paid to Donald Trump’s continuing fixation on denying the results of the 2020 presidential election and the possibility of a repeat in 2024, a more immediate threat to democracy is looming: an alarming number of Republicans across the country are now gearing up to cast doubt on the outcome of the midterm elections this November.
The New York Times reports that “six Republican nominees for governor and the Senate in key midterm states … would not commit to accepting the November outcome.” Five others refused to answer the question. The Washington Post found a similar thing in its own survey of candidates running for governor and Senate in battleground states.
Allegations of chicanery in state and local elections are almost as old as the Republic, as are false claims about election integrity.
But candidates announcing in advance that they will not accept election results is unprecedented.
It is an alarming reminder of the growing authoritarianism in many parts of the Republican Party and the threat it poses to American democracy

What’s really happening is that they are attempting to cancel and criminalize various criticisms of their rule.

Of course this statement is absolutely false. You will recall Hillary instructed Biden not to concede under any circumstances and that they would make sure he eventually wins the election no matter what.
The Beltway establishment calls that "Quality Control" in democracy.
Why do these people so blatantly remind me of elementary school recess bullies? This is a preemptive “Heads I win, Tails you lose” attack!

To these people history only started the day they were born.

She almost did until Obama forced her to accept it.
Any Republican candidate who loses in November will claim is was because of voter fraud. Any Democrat candidate who loses in November will claim it was due to voter suppression. Neither side will accept the other side results as legitimate. Such is the way of elections in the U.S. in 2022.
Only an election where your party wins will be seen as an honest election. Anything else will be considered fraudulent an a treat to democracy.

Hot air hyperbole. This country has seen difficult and divided times more than once.
The Hill is circling the toilet. I remember right before John Solomon was chased out they would label his factual reports as “opinion” while not doing the same for obvious Democrat propaganda.
I quit reading asnything at The Hill when they pushed out the only actual Journalist. John Solomon is too good for them, then and now.
