While much attention has been paid to Donald Trump’s continuing fixation on denying the results of the 2020 presidential election and the possibility of a repeat in 2024, a more immediate threat to democracy is looming: an alarming number of Republicans across the country are now gearing up to cast doubt on the outcome of the midterm elections this November.
The New York Times reports that “six Republican nominees for governor and the Senate in key midterm states … would not commit to accepting the November outcome.” Five others refused to answer the question. The Washington Post found a similar thing in its own survey of candidates running for governor and Senate in battleground states.
Allegations of chicanery in state and local elections are almost as old as the Republic, as are false claims about election integrity.
But candidates announcing in advance that they will not accept election results is unprecedented.
It is an alarming reminder of the growing authoritarianism in many parts of the Republican Party and the threat it poses to American democracy

Unless the Republicans win, in which case it will be alarming how quickly The Hill and others turn on a dime to question the legitimacy of the election. You know, like they did when W won and when Trump won.

They would be stupid to do that ahead of time. If there’s fraud, challenge it. If not, concede. Decide then, not now.
It’s a recognition of the alarming authoritarianism that exists today.
Will a party that pursues the benefit of ILLEGAL immigration reject the benefit of ILLEGAL votes?

The Hill was once a respected outlet. Now, not so much as they serve the demon rat party agenda.
NO! It is an alarming reminder that our nation has tolerated the criminal administration of elections and virtually NOTHING has been done to end it. The republican party and the courts are primarily guilty for not addressing the shenanigans that have been going on forever but never to the degree we see today.
The only thing that will stop the corruption and cheating is putting people in jail without respect of persons - or pass a law that will literally publicly hang those who corrupt our elections.
And did they ask dem candidates the same question?
Of course not.
Always turn it around, and ask them how their opponent answered.
Or, just say, “same answer as my opponent.”
