Yeah, Trump's Dr. Oz Endorsement Probably Cost Us Pennsylvania and the Senate
PJ Media ^ | 08/18/2022 | Stephen Green

Dr. Mehmet Oz, who earned former President Donald Trump’s primary-race endorsement in April, is going down in flames according to a new GOP poll.

Republican-affiliated Public Opinion Strategies reports that surgeon-turned-TV-host Dr. Oz trails Democrat John Fetterman by nearly 20 points!

Trump gave Oz his “complete and total endorsement” before the wide-open GOP primary of six candidates, a move that probably sealed the deal with Pennsylvania Republicans.

The doc won in a squeaker, barely beating out second-place finisher David McCormick, 31.2% to 31.1%.

The former president praised Oz’s positions on abortion, crime, the Second Amendment, border security, the military, education, energy independence, and election fraud. Those are all well and good, but before lending an endorsement, someone in Trump’s position first needs to determine whether the recipient is at all likely to win the general election.

In Dr. Oz’s case, right now that’s a big, fat NO.

Let’s face it: He is not a good candidate.

After winning his primary, Oz went AWOL.

While Fetterman was literally incapacitated by a stroke, the doc failed to capitalize on a prime opportunity to define himself and his prone opponent:

Recent reporting suggests that Oz might not have taken advantage of those several weeks where Fetterman was sidelined, a significant span of time during a race that could be integral to party control of the Senate.

Puck is reporting that the former TV personality was in Palm Beach, Florida, until June 9 at least, not holding his first post-primary event until June 10. Oz reportedly also traveled to Ireland to visit family at the end of June and did not return until early July.

We have a guy on local talk radio like that. He is a libertarian, even ran for office at the local level. He is mostly conservative but spends most of his time attack the republicans and begging people to quit voting for them out of habit. I’ve never heard him bad mouth a democrat though his positions are anathema to everything the democrats stand for. Again, he is one of those libertarians he longs for the day when all conservative republicans see the light and vote for his chosen candidate. He either doesn’t understand or doesn’t care that politics is a numbers game and there are only two parties with any realistic chance of winning most elections and sometimes you need to choose the lesser of two evils because to do otherwise puts the other party into power. We have some ‘conservatives’ on this site that don’t seem to understand that simple concept either.

If you listen to Oz, he says he is campaigning non-stop throughout the state. Said that last night on Hannity.

I don’t think so. McConnell did not put Walker and Dr Oz over the top and therefore lose two very winnable, critical races. That is entirely on Trump.

But does that approach still work anymore? If the press doesn’t cover his appearances what good is it? Especially considering he is a TV personality he needs to have a bigger presence on TV.

UPROXX (!) article by:

Matt Prigge
Matt Prigge is an entertainment journalist and editor with a particular interest in film. He’s written for The Guardian, The Village Voice (RIP), Metro, Philadelphia Weekly, NBC, and Nashville Scene. He also teaches at NYU. He likes food and he’s tall.

Wow. An entertainment journalist has a read on Donald Trump’s thinking. Via third-fourth-fifth-sixth-person account.

What legitimate “GOP polling firm” is going to publish information that undermines their own candidate ahead of an election? Answer: one that doesn’t want that candidate to win.

‘What the heck is going on in Pennsylvania?’

a very powerful teacher’s union influence, and a declining, aging population that is skewing female...no more, no less than that...

Barnette would have zero money coming in and would be stuck with cris-crossing the state as Oz is. She also puts her foot in her mouth and would have been another Akin...not only tanking her chances but those of other Republicans nationwide as well! Soros put 40 million into the state...THAT is the main problem. At least McCormick would have had RNC $$$ coming in.

Abortion should not even have been an issue for anyone in 2022 but the people on this site are obsessed with it! It should have been left alone in an election year but blame the stupid supreme court for that. What were they thinking?

One question...why did no candidate think they could compete with Walker in GA? Just because Trump endorsed him, he could still lose to someone somewhat competent. Blame Collins and the other cowards for not even entering the race! But I agree that Walker will single handedly blow that race. As for PA, the reason we are losing is the lack of RNC funding, and the fact that Soros is putting 40 million into the state and has run endless Fetterman/Shapiro ads. DM is not competitive either.

GOOD GOSH!!!You see this is the problem with the GOP. No matter how horrible our candidate might be we always backstab them. Why can’t we for once stand up for our candidates no matter how rotten they are. Why can’t we build a wall like the rats do around their candidates? They fight for those POS tooth and nail. And here we are acting the same way as the minority leaders in DC. Jack Pesobic is the ringleader of putting down Dr. oz constantly attacking him....Jack enough I love you man but we have to stick together for the sake of country! You are a military man you should know what it is to stick together like glue to advance to the next stage you need to just put a cap on it. This country won’t survive more years of the rats their communism Gestapo dictatorship. We are hanging by a thin thin thread. PLASE please start supporting this man I don’t care how weak he is but at least he was willing to take a stand to help America!

The problem is the RNC is sabotaging MAGA candidates so they can blame them for losing in November. They are happy being the big fish in a small pond.

I assume Trump picked Oz because the doc endorsed Trump’s SwampVax.

Pittsburgh WorksTogether...appears to be a quasi-political group with deep union affiliations. No matter what their window dressing is, big union equals big DEMOCRAT.

If we can’t beat Fetterman the Senate Campaign Committee and McConnell should be fired.

They have NO national message for the GOP, Tucker had a good segment on that last night, just how worthless McConnell and McCarthy are. If they lose this November, I’m going third party.
