Kansas Overwhelmingly Votes to Uphold Abortion ‘Rights’
Breitbart ^ | August 2, 2022 | Paul Bois

Posted on 08/03/2022 5:11:47 AM PDT by Morgana

The pro-life movement suffered a defeat in Kansas on Tuesday when the state overwhelmingly voted to uphold abortion “rights.”

The vote in Kansas on Tuesday centered on whether or not the state would remove abortion rights protections in the State Constitution, potentially paving the way for “state lawmakers to pass far-reaching abortion restrictions, or even to pursue a ban,” according to the New York Times.

With 76 percent reporting, the “No” votes to keep abortion rights in place beat the “Yes” votes by double digits – 62.2 percent versus 37.7 percent as of this writing. Both NBC News and the New York Times have projected “No” as the referendum winner.

Abortion activists and Democrat lawmakers celebrated the victory.

“This is huge: abortion rights were on the ballot for the first time since Roe, and the people of Kansas voted to preserve access,” tweeted Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). “I’m grateful down to my toes for everyone who helped stop this dangerous ballot measure in its tracks.”

I will BET YOU, that the wording of that choice was deliberately designed to confuse the voter.

Perhaps they will have a great awakening.

That’s the problem with conservatives. They like to sit home on their asses on election day thinking that everyone else will be there to vote for a decent country. It’s not that way anymore. The RATS are destroying America. Abbott needs to start sending illegal invaders to Kansas too.

Not true
There was a primary too. Pretty sure all the college towns voted no on the ban

SCOTUS returned the issue to the states. A state has spoken for their state

Kansas voted for Obama twice and Biden in 2020

I’m not surprised

so a referendum?!
I wonder how many people knew that question was even in there? I bet the baby killing democrats sneaked that question in there at the last minute with no fanfare. In any case it’s still a State issue and not a federal issue. If the issue’s to be decided, that’s the proper place for it.

well, at least the people got a vote this time and were not dictated to by unelected judges.

No it didn’t! The last time it voted Republican was in 1964!

At least the states are getting to decide. That’s the way it should’ve been all along. Too bad they chose poorly.

Wrongo, my friend. Check out this article from Michigan. Look at the picture, then you’ll see what you said was tragically wrong, and I’m afraid, you’re wrong on both counts too. You see, for everyone of the loser wannabe doctors, there’s just as many loser wannabe lawyers who lust for open borders and everything that brings. J-O-B security.

That’s a completely different issue. The Emancipation Proclamation basically outlawed slavery for those states that stillchad slaves. Congress then acted to codify that with legislation. That legislation also is how the feds are able to crackdown on sex trafficking which is a form of slavery. To answer your question though, I guess in general if a person subscribes to support the Constitution and States rights I suppose there’s an argument for a state to endorse slavery. Would that happen in the USA today? Certainly not. Do I support slavery? NO. do I endorse abortion? NO. It all boils down to a states rights issue for me. This issue was brought to the voters, they endorsed it so if I lived there and didn’t like that I’d move to a more friendly state to my ideals.

Watch for Democrats to rush abortion referendums onto the 2024 ballot the exact way they tied legalizing Marijuana onto the ballot to turn out all the stoners.

Yes, the red wave is starting to look like it could be a blue wave.

Who cares. We have to win this midterm election and the SC just screwed us. Why overturn Roe v Wade in an election year? I hope you can now see that there is no red wave coming. WA senate primary has Murray leading by 23 pts. The gap was only 5 before the overturn.

Where do you get this crazy stuff from?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_elections_in_Kansas

Kansas hasn’t voted for a Democrat since 1964.

Before that it was FDR in 32 and 36.

Thanks to SCOTUS, dems will almost certainly now keep the senate and probably extend their house lead.

Yep, there will be no red wave. Our side is not only out manned, has way less money, but lots of conservatives were also very overconfident that inflation was going to carry us over! We’re going to have to work for this one.

There was a primary too. Pretty sure all the college towns voted no on the ban

College towns, urban areas, some rural counties. In 2020 Biden won 5 counties in the whole state. Yesterday the 'no' vote took 19 counties.

Total turnout was over 900,000. How many of those were independents who couldn't vote in the primary but turned out solely to vote 'no' on the referendum?

Kansas voted for Obama twice and Biden in 2020

You might want to double-check that claim.
