Just think of all those parts in a gasoline and diesel engine. And all the man-hours that are needed to manufacture, inspect and assemble those parts.
An electric motor has a stator, a rotor, copper wiring, bearings and a case to hold it all and it can be assembled completely by machines from beginning to end............

Additionally, EVs do not need a transmission. Mechanical transmissions have hundreds of intricately machined parts........

My point was that President Trump and a Republican Congress will change all the Executive Orders and legislation pushing electric cars, and Ford will take the obvious path away from them.
What percentage of the largest employer in the nation, the Federal Government, do you think is pro-Trump?
Conservative values are a direct threat to the existence of these jobs.
On the slim chance Trump runs again, what do you think the actual chance of a machine that operates in the light of day without fear of reprisal, would allow a true conservative candidate's victory?

Wrong kind of battery. But this does not help with the argument that their are 15,000 more components in a gas power vehicle. Because they cheat about what they count as a component. If you take the number of components in that simple diagram(12) and multiply by 9000 then you get 108,000. That doe not include the main battery cases, tie bars, current and temp sensors.
Also Combustion engine manufacturing is automated as well.
