Biden administration: Hospitals 'must' provide abortion services if life of mother is at risk
KCRA TV ^ | 07/11/2022 | Zeke Miller of Ass Press

The Biden administration on Monday told hospitals that they "must" provide abortion services if the life of the mother is at risk, saying federal law on emergency treatment guidelines preempts state laws in jurisdictions that now ban the procedure without any exceptions following the Supreme Court's decision to end a constitutional right to abortion.

The Department of Health and Human Services cited requirements on medical facilities in the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act...

...department said emergency conditions include "ectopic pregnancy, complications of pregnancy loss, or emergent hypertensive disorders, such as preeclampsia with severe features."

...The department says its guidance doesn't reflect new policy, but merely reminds doctors and providers of their existing obligations under federal law.

Doctors do not have a constitutional right to provide abortion. For any reason

These people are living in denial. Living in the past

Progressivism works all ways.

Progress is the new way

The new way on abortion is it was never a constitutional right. No doctor is allowed to perform one unless allowed to by the state

Biden has absolutely no say in this unless he is declaring an unconstitutional dictatorship. In reality not just in his own mind and those of his advisors including former presidents and First Ladies.

None.

“ People on both sides overwhelmingly support this exception.”

No that is not true. Provide a source. Number one

Two. Abortion is not allowed under the constitution. Perhaps MDs were doing this, but it is not legal.

“ Most of us would agree to an abortion when it comes to rape, incest or when the life of mother is at risk.”

No. Nope.

Most of us would agree to an abortion when it comes to rape, incest or when the life of mother is at risk.

Most of us would agree that before anyone is deprived of life or liberty without due process it would be criminal.

That’s why state legislators need to differentiate between physical health and mental and/or emotional health.

I wouldn't and many people in my community would not either.

If the mother’s life is truly at risk, sometimes there is no choice.

A tubal pregnancy is the only example I can think of early term and that’s never been considered an abortion.

However, past a certain gestation date, it is NOT necessary to kill the baby to save the mother’s life. Late term abortions are inexcusable as medical care can virtually guarantee a good outcome if the pregnancy needs to end early to literally save the mother’s life.

Ectopic pregnancies are dealt with immediately. The baby can’t survive and it could kill the mother. This is a genuine medical issue and no laws regarding abortion have any bearing on it.

These people are such bald faced liars. And not one of the MSM esteemed “journalists” will call them out on this.

NOTHING BURGER.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed a bill into law that bans nearly all abortions in the state. The only exceptions are when the life of the woman is at risk or when a fetus has a fatal disorder. This new Abortion Law in Alabama is considered to be one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country.

One of the most restrictive in the country, but still allows for the health of the mother.

So Biden says what, “Comeon man, follow your law!”?

Moron.

“...eventually realized that the unborn child is deserving of life regardless of its conception.”

👍👍👍👍👍

A friend has a real screwed up family living next to him. After the mother died it seems the 15 year old daughter took over ALL of her departed mom’s duties, including the sex part. The sex part grew to include taking care of her brothers needs as well.
Someone eventually got social services to remove the girl from the home when she was 17. As soon as she turned 18 she said FU and moved back home. Back to cooking, cleaning and sexing it up with Pa and bro.
She got pregnant pretty soon after but instead of having an abortion she had the baby and a nice adoptive family took it home from the hospital.

Even Secretary Buttplug and it’s husband didn’t get an abortion.

It’s not a complete nothing, because the courts have interpreted “life of the mother at risk” to include being really sad or mad about being pregnant, having mild diabetes, and lots of other excuses.

Like everything else with these people, you have to clarify what the meaning of “is”, is.

Yes, FedGov pays a lot of hospital bills, but where in the Constitution is that authorized?

The cynic in me says it's a perversion of the general welfare clause.

If you respond to a pro-abortion leftist who screams, “what about rape or incest pregnancies?” with “Okay, let’s limit abortion to just those instances”, they will almost choke.

They always use those two types of the very small percentages of unwanted pregnancies to demand abortion for convenience of the mother and in place of other birth control methods.. Much like the story of the 10-year old who had to travel out of state for an abortion. (That didn’t happen, but it makes a great story). They use these very rare cases to demand a PP clinic on every corner.

With medical advancements over the past few decades, there are actually very few times that parents and their physicians have to make such a decision. Most people agree that in such a situation, saving the life of the mother is a priority.
