Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told the United States on Wednesday that attempts by the West to punish a nuclear power such as Russia for the war in Ukraine risked endangering humanity.
Russia's invasion of Ukraine has triggered the most serious crisis in relations between Russia and the West since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, when many people feared the world was on the brink of nuclear war.
Medvedev cast the United States as an empire which had spilled blood across the world, citing the killing of Native Americans, U.S. nuclear attacks on Japan and a host of wars ranging from Vietnam to Afghanistan.
Attempts to use courts or tribunals to investigate Russia's actions in Ukraine would, Medvedev said, be futile and risk global devastation.
"The idea of punishing a country that has one of the largest nuclear potentials is absurd. And potentially poses a threat to the existence of humanity," Medvedev, who now serves as deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, said on Telegram.

"The whole of American history, starting with the conquest of the Native Indians, is a bloody war of annihilation," he said.

Oh, and I thought that was his sober look...
LOL
That photo has a lot packed in there...
Russia must be hurting, because only a weak and suffering nation would make such threats. And, it’s not just Medvedev:
Yesterday the head of the Duma threatened Alaska.
Russia is just being the bully it is and always has been; a big punk, insecure and paranoid.
You know, that’s exactly right.
Also, I wonder if anyone mentioned to him the U. S. has nukes.
Obama isn’t checking out her assets, he’s checking out her shoes.
If Russian nuclear forces are in the same condition as the material sent into Ukraine, we might have very little to worry us.
It’s a two-way street, dumbass.
Lots of Russian missile launch failures in Belgorod and Kherson yesterday. In Kherson, 4 of 7 missile launches failed and the missiles fell back into temporarily occupied territory. All caught on video.
No he’s just MAD:-)
A lot of these European countries won’t do so well in the aftermath of just one successful detonation. The United States is farther away and larger than these European Nations. Even individual states have more land and population than whole European nations. Now in all honesty I see this stooge in the same way I see the Chinese General threatening on conditions of interfering with taking Taiwan. Hopefully I’m right and he’s bluffing.
In other news Russia has successfully developed and used hypersonic missiles in a theater of war while America’s development of the same technology is not proceeding all that well. We do not have the same missile capability but we do have more trannies in uniform and massive shortages in recruitment. If we do get into a serious war with Russia we will not win until our own troops frag most of our officers and senior military commanders.
Ouch...
Russia is just two cities: Moscow and St Petersburg. The rest of it is a bunch of Craphole-istan “republics” and decaying and crumbling Soviet relic towns and villages.
They certainly blew thew crap out of that NATO training center west of Lviv without too much difficulty.
We made the first hypersonic aircraft. I don’t see why that didn’t equal also having hypersonic missiles which are unmanned flying bombs. Actually, scratch that, given such a high impact velocity of a hypersonic missile they probably don’t even just have an explosive payload.
Way to deceptively edit out the “until” condition which is what I see as the necessary predicate to victory - how deceptive of you. It is about what can be expected of from a Canadian who still spends money with the English sovereign on it.
In our Civil War, not yours, many of the generals and officers that started out had to be fired unceremoniously until they found the right people to lead and win. All of the great and grand generals that were leading at the start of the war were pretty much gone by the end. It was Grant and Sherman that won the war.
