At which time his replacement (who may or may not be a woman) will be sworn in?

I'm sure Xiden’s puppet masters will pick a suitably-Marxist nominee, who'll then be crammed through the Senate confirmation process in record time.

already confirmed....is this a first? (replacement confirmed prior to resignation) As far as I know it is.
If Breyer had not resigned (and say died under the next President) would the confirmation still be valid?

It’s Ketanji Brown Jackson, she’s already been confirmed. She’s just waiting for Breyer to step down.

She’s already been cleared by the Senate. I think they won’t seat her until fall.

I was sooooooooooo hoping this moron would wait until after the midterms at least!
the left is TERRIFIED
To: scrabblehack
He already resigned, his replacement has been confirmed, this just finalizes the effective date. I assume he wanted to make sure all pending decisions were released before he finalized the date.

Ketanji Jackson was successful in getting her uncle jailbird Tommy’s sentence commuted.
“In 1989, when Jackson was a freshman at Harvard, her uncle Thomas Brown Jr. was sentenced to life in prison for a nonviolent cocaine conviction in which federal agents found 14 kilograms of cocaine, wrapped in duct tape, court records show.
Years later, Jackson persuaded a law firm to take his case pro bono, and President Barack Obama eventually commuted his sentence.”

Not a first.
For example, O’Connor announced her retirement on July 1, but noted that it wouldn’t be effective until the nomination and confirmation of a successor.
Alito thus joined the Court mid-term.
