Texas Sen. John Cornyn is warning that time and policy constraints are putting pressure on negotiators who have yet to lock in on a final deal on legislation responding to recent gun massacres – and that Democrats have 'run out of rope.'
He made the comments Thursday after earlier saying the most contentious remaining issues related to state 'red flag' laws and closing the so called 'boyfriend loophole' for gun restrictions on people that currently apply to abusive spouses.
'The challenge, of course, as you know, is to translate those principles into text,' Cornyn told conservative host Hugh Hewitt on his radio show Thursday.

The devil is in the details. A red flag law would have to be so carefully couched in due process protections that it’s real purpose— to serve as a camels toe under the confiscation tent—would be defeated.
Don’t call this negotiation without a trade off. We,conservatives, should get something I return! I’m tired of incrementally giving ground til we’re shoved off the cliff!
I used to listen to Hewitt because he had great guests. It was on his show that I heard an interview with late author Vince Flynn and started reading all his books. However, Hewitt became more RINO over time and would cut off callers who weren't sufficiently RINO. I don't think I have heard his voice since the 2016 debates.

Now it’s time to pass a fun law with LESS restrictions in guns. Then, call it a “gun control bill.”
The “Red Flag” part should probably be renamed the “Far-left sister-in-law revenge” law.
The preliminary version that I read about was for the cops to come and confiscate your guns, THEN schedule a hearing for some unknown time in the future to decide whether or not the sister-in-law’s complaint has merit.
And then, after it is determined to not have merit, how long before the guns are returned, if ever? And what punishment for the sister-in-law?
But he did the same thing with Obamacare and spending cuts.
The pressure is working folks! Keep calling these weak-kneed RINO senator’s offices and voicing your displeasure!
Hugh Hewitt was a Bushbot Rino twenty years ago.
John “Wayne” Cornyn is just spinning for now so he can be a part of a midnight deal that gives the Dims everything they want.
Sadly, so was I.
