Security footage from Robb Elementary School in Texas shows that a back door was propped open by a teacher before Tuesday's deadly mass shooting, Texas law enforcement officials said.
At 11:27 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the door that police believe was used by the 18-year-old gunman to enter the school was propped open by a teacher, Director of Texas Department of Public Safety Steven McCraw said at a Friday press conference.
McCraw said the detail was confirmed through "video evidence."
After the gunman crashed his vehicle in a ditch just a minute later, the teacher ran to get a phone and walked back to the propped-open door.
Two men at a nearby funeral home heard the crash and went to the scene, only to find the gunman exit the vehicle. The men ran as they were shot at, but were not hit.
Through security footage inside the school, McGraw said the teacher panicked and called police at 11:30 a.m. to report the crash and gunman.
Eventually, at 11:33 a.m. the gunman entered the school through the door, barricaded himself inside a classroom and massacred 19 children and two adults.
McCraw said police who arrived at the scene were told by a commander not to engage with the shooter because they believed there was no more threat to children.

Thanks, mine is a .450 and the other is a .223
That happened with me at the county courthouse. I was stopped by security for a physical bag check and X-ray scan, and I also had to take my belt off to go through the metal detector. Someone behind me walked right through the detector with a briefcase, setting off the alarm with no action by any guard.
When I asked why, the guard said, “It’s okay. He works here.” I told him that made no difference, and that the building is compromised when one person is allowed to go through without being checked like everyone else.
When I came back out, they were checking everyone, and there were some ticked off people who were used to breezing through.
It serves them right, and I did my civic duty.
I had a .223 but mine current one is 5.56.
It’s brand new. Never have shot it. Got it on sale too. Years ago
Good find. “I” want a LOT more info on the door-opening idiot/teacher...
STOP questioning ANYTHING!
You will get Sandy Hooked.
I’ll wait for the “official” timeline of events.
Hope someone takes secure control of all cell phones of kids in those classrooms. An independent investigation need to be done. Knowing the younger kids some of them had to be recording what was happening. Would be very.difficult for a parent to view but there is evidence that needs to be seen.
I think it was to get better reception to call 9-11.
Hush, conspiracy theorist.
Get your own material, Republican swine🐽
Do you remember where you read that or have that info?
And it makes more sense than her running to her car to get her phone. (That's what purses are for.)
“Those men in the hallway are going to be messed up for a long time.”
If they had any honor they’d find a quiet place to suck start their pistols.

How convenient….if they’re saying the teacher who propped the door open is one of the ones who was shot.
I won’t accept the Daily Beast’s insinuation….I’ll wait til there’s confirmation from her family….or, some more trustworthy source, than DB.
Or, make that ‘YOUR suggestion’….not (just) DBs ;-)
WHY?
The DB article was about a teacher in a classroom. It’s not suggesting that teacher was the one who propped open the door.
I don’t know whether that teacher propped open a door. Maybe or maybe not. My comment was meant to show how quickly it all happened. The classroom teacher received an email, and when she went to the door to lock it, the killer was already there.
My complaint is that the school seemed to be communicating to teachers via email/text. Don’t schools use PA systems, anymore? Alarms? Did teachers have to check their phones to know a killer was in the building? So many questions.
Oh, okay. I was going by your “Not sure...” reply to the ‘Did this teacher pay the price’ question.
I agree about the crazy email communication process they used.
Thanks.
Travis Considine, chief communications officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said Tuesday that additional surveillance footage revealed that the teacher did actually close the door. "We did verify she closed the door. The door did not lock..."
