A spokesman for former President Trump told The New York Times that former Vice President Mike Pence is “desperate to chase his lost relevance” amid rising tensions between the two former allies, who could clash for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
In a Times article about Pence laying the groundwork for a potential 2024 bid, Trump spokesperson Taylor Budowich said the former Indiana governor was “set to lose a governor’s race in 2016 before he was plucked up and his political career was salvaged.”

Well said President Trump!
Pence has no natural constituency for a national run on his own. I don’t demonize him like some do, but he has not a whiff of charisma, and no discernible platform other than being a nice guy.
I’ve never believed Pence was Trump’s ally.
I never could understand why he picked Pence.
Except maybe the deep-staters told him it might help him win that state? (old thinking)
A ticket of him and Palin would have been gold. What? You say the media would have trashed them both? Duh... they were going to do that anyway.
Well said.
Hey Pence, care to show us the envelope/card you got at the 2018 Bush Funeral
Pence is the sole reason we have Brandon.
Trump is correct, but I dont think he helps himself by creating a longer enemies list. Sometimes its better not to say anything.
He needs to lay off Pence. Like him or not, I don’t think it’s a good look for Trump and his folks to demonize his former VP.
Outside a handful of "religious" voters, Pence has very little support.
I think Trump picked Pence for about the same reasons that Reagan picked Bush. The Deep State hoisted Bush on Reagan to keep tabs on him. Ditto for Trump.
Exactly. MAGA voters won't go near him. And the left certainly wouldn't vote for him. That leaves the establishment GOPers, but they won't touch him because he was 45's VEEP. And then there's that conspicuous lack of charisma that you mentioned.
Politically, he's pretty much a leper.
Ho hum...
Yet ANOTHER effort by the Dems to poison Republican “unity”.
Not to mention that Pence has the charisma of dishwater.
Was pence ever relevant to begin with?
He'll get as far as Santorum did, nowhere but a third rate TV guest.
Vice Presidents and Senators are always wishing to move up, always.
I don’t think he picked, I think he acquiesced for quid pro quo, perhaps to be allowed to run with some GOP support. Many of the “picks” Freepers excoriate him for were in the same category.
