Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania’s Republican primary for governor, putting a last-minute seal of approval on the far-right front-runner who has embraced his false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.
"There is no one in Pennsylvania who has done more, or fought harder, for Election Integrity than State Senator Doug Mastriano," Trump said in a statement Saturday.
Trump’s backing comes just days before a Tuesday primary where Mastriano has solidified himself as the leading candidate. Democrat Josh Shapiro, the state’s attorney general who is unopposed in his party’s primary for governor, has aired a TV ad seemingly designed to fortify Mastriano, whom even many Republicans believe would be their weakest candidate in a general election because of his extreme positions.

Pennsylvania has a population of around 13 million. About 8.5 million of them live in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh metro areas. Statewide elections are won and lost in the suburbs of these two cities.
“According to PA people on twitter, Mastriano signs are everywhere so this is a safe bet.”
*
I have a Lou Barletta sign in my yard.
Good. Glad he got this one right.
“As for Mastriano, he talked a good game, but ultimately got nothing done. I’m voting for Barletta. “
*
Me too.
The first thing he could have done was not voted for the stupid 2019 law that enabled the mass mail-in voting process used to steal the 2020 election.
This guy actually has a campaign promise on his website saying he’d work with the legislature to stop unlimited mail-in voting. In other words … he’s promising to help eliminate an election process that HE PASSED INTO LAW as a legislator.
This guy really comes across as a moron or a fraud.
“You will never convince me that Trump lost Pennsylvania. But he did, via voter fraud. “
*
Mastriano was no help to Trump since he voted for mail in voting with no excuses needed.
Funny, they never tell us what those "extreme positions" are, but let me guess: Freedom, liberty, equality, self-defense, opposed to killing preborn babies, in favor of election integrity, ...
Yes, I know. I avoid those two cities - especially Philly - when I visit the state.
Ditto for California where all elections are determined in the San Francisco/Los Angeles/San Diego areas - the rest of the state is solid red - not enough to overcome the large blue cities.
Still, do you believe Biden legitimately won Pennsylvania?
No, he is not, and no, he will NOT.
I can say this with authority because I know him personally and have talked at length with him about the evils of compromise. Believe me, he is no compromiser when it comes to his faith, family, and our freedom, and will never compromise with the Dems. Period.
Good for Trump. Its time to support the base and hopefully drive this into an Independent movement that strangles the McConnell, Pence et al GOP. Pence endorsing Kemp shows its all been a fraud
The tears of those who think winning is everything will flow, but millions of us who left the GOP over McCain/Romney can hold our heads high, comfortable in the reality the U.S. is a poisoned republic doomed as it currently stands
At any rate, Mastriano is now going to be the nominee for sure...so either get behind him and help him win, or else enjoy Governor Shapiro.
I really don’t have a clue.
FWIW … Under our system, I don’t believe any election with ballots cast by mail or drop boxes — especially massive numbers of them — is a legitimate one.
Those of the news media toss around assumptions carelessly and, though they don't realize it, dangerously.
"Far-right" to them means anyone who disagrees with the group-think to which they have committed themselves and they do their damnedest to hold onto.
And "false claims that the 2020 election was stolen" is the same. These people don't know whether the election was stolen or not, but that doesn't stop them from pronouncing whatever it is that they want to be true and TRUTH be damned.
This is classic group-think. It changes with the zeitgeist. It's a matter of choosing whatever fact seems most likely or most preferable and sticking to it.
It's basically the same thing as letting whoever has the last word--or speaks the loudest--establish what's going to be accepted at true--dismissing the fact, obvious to all truth-seekers that truth exists and it is the responsibility of the benevolent to find it. This is the job of a journalist.
Contempt for TRUTH--TRUTH for its own sake--is the evil most fundamental to the decadence of Western Civilization, a decadence that threatens all of us.
This contempt for TRUTH sometimes takes the form of refusing to believe that TRUTH even exists.
Sometimes it takes the form of believing that TRUTH is whatever the majority believes it to be, what constitutes the majority being necessarily uncertain--whether it be "everybody I know," or the majority of some group or other, or the majority of those polled, that sort of thing.
Sometimes it takes the form of believing that truth is whatever it's convenient to believe that it is--or whatever one wants it to be.
When I was a confused, troubled teen-ager, my greatest epiphany was the realization that TRUTH--TRUTH for its own sake--the ruthless search for TRUTH--the commitment to accept TRUTH wherever it should present itself--was my greatest ally. It was TRUTH that brought me out of despair and to a life so wonderful that I wish such a beautiful life for EVERYONE.
TRUTH can do the same for all of us--for the American People--for the USA--and for the world. TRUTH is our greatest ally.
TRUTH ended slavery. The Battle Cry was this: "His TRUTH is marching on."
TRUTH would have prevented the Nazis from seizing control of Germany.
When the Information Age dawned--or rather when it dawned on me that the Information Age was upon us--I was thrilled and delighted! I was convinced that it had the power to bring education, knowledge, wisdom, enlightenment, and Truth to all the people of the world--and that the Light of Truth would illuminate all the dark places in the world! It does.
Paradise on earth seemed to be at hand. But I was naive. I forgot that everything has a dark side. And the dark side tends to be proportional in magnitude to the bright side. That's certainly true of the Information Age!
With such dangerous potential hovering over us, it is more important than ever to be scrupulously honest--to seek and accept TRUTH--TRUTH for its own sake--wherever it presents itself.
Such a dangerous world cannot afford the luxury of unTRUTH. Yet here we are--just when we can least afford it--submerged in the decadence of Western Civilization where contempt for TRUTH is axiomatic.
All benevolent people must demand of themselves that they be TRUTH-seekers. Accept nothing less. And most people are benevolent people.
We can do it. Note tagline.
And I’ve told guy before that this is a pathetic excuse for any legislator to make after he votes for a bill.
Mastriano will have my vote but he’ll never have my confidence. I know an inept loser when I see one. I think he’ll be lucky to get 40% of the vote in November.
“Oz is a TV celebrity just like Trump was.”
True, but nobody climbed aboard the Trump Train because Trump was a TV celebrity. If anything, that worked against him. He had to prove himself with conservatives by picking battles with all the right enemies. He convinced us that he really did want to put American citizens first, and was willing to put himself in the line of fire over and ver again to make it happen.
And nobody climbed aboard the Trump Train because of an endorsement from Party leaders. In fact, it was quite the opposite; Party leaders didn’t endorse him - not one - they all demonized him.
Oz has not convinced me of anything - he offers platitudes and promises that he may or may not keep - that remains to be proven. The fact that someone endorsed him means nothing to me - even if that someone is President Trump, who is my hero.
Endorsements mean nothing to me - when I decide to buy a product, it is because I decided - never because someone endorsed it.
In fact, if I ever embarrass myself by buying something because of an endorsement, please shoot me.
Doesn’t need to endorse anyone…
Like I said election is Tuesday, and Mastriano is up 10…
No need to say anything unless he just wants to pad his endorsement numbers..
He’s free to do it, but doesn’t really seem like it serves any purpose, at least in reference to the primary.
I will never vote for Mastriano because he voted for mail in voting. He’s not experienced enough & should not be governor at this time. I’ve seen him speak in person twice, and he sounds great, but he voted for mail in voting.
“his false claims”
You notice that this disclaimer is inserted in every media midget. Are these people living in a closet?
2000Mules has made it perfectly clear, even though Tucker Carlson and the rest Fox won’t cover it, that the election as stolen from Trump.
Will see how many total votes they all get to measure the man’s popularity in the general....
Is it too much to ask, one more time, for divine intervention here?
Just imagine a clean sweep for Republicans in PA this Fall.
