Trump endorses Mastriano in Pennsylvania GOP governor's race

Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania’s Republican primary for governor, putting a last-minute seal of approval on the far-right front-runner who has embraced his false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

"There is no one in Pennsylvania who has done more, or fought harder, for Election Integrity than State Senator Doug Mastriano," Trump said in a statement Saturday.

Trump’s backing comes just days before a Tuesday primary where Mastriano has solidified himself as the leading candidate. Democrat Josh Shapiro, the state’s attorney general who is unopposed in his party’s primary for governor, has aired a TV ad seemingly designed to fortify Mastriano, whom even many Republicans believe would be their weakest candidate in a general election because of his extreme positions.

The gaslight media reads minds and lies in sentence #1. As expected.

He’s been fighting the fraud a long time. Isn’t he former military?

He’s been fighting the fraud a long time.

He stopped talking about it after his critics began pointing out that the 2020 election debacle in Pennsylvania was only possible because of the stupid mail-in voting process that MASTRIANO HIMSELF helped pass into law in 2019.

The rationale behind Trump’s endorsement in this race is obvious (he will always endorse someone who is going to win), but Mastriano is not going to win in November. In fact, I predict that he would lose this race even if every other Republican candidate in the U.S. wins.

Trump is endorsing the winner. It’s a bit late to do anything other than jump on Mastriano’s band wagon. I would like to see Trump be more aggressive about supporting challengers to all the RINOs who support Jake the Snake as President Pro Tempore of the PA Senate.

Go back to the GOP primary in the Alabama senate race in 2020. Jeff Sessions was running for his old seat. Trump despised him, and yet he refused to endorse his main opponent (Tommy Tuberville) until late in the race when polls showed Tuberville with a wide lead.

In this case, I’m sure Trump held out until the last minute because he couldn’t imagine why PA Republicans would pick Mastriano. He’s going to get his ass kicked in November. Trump probably just endorsed the guy because he needs his supporters behind him in 2024.

Not always . . . J.D. Vance was NOT the favorite. Of course, Kemp is going down, Oz isn't looking too good at the moment either. I think thst lady who was moving from Tennessee dropped already. Trump pulling the Mo Brooks endorsement changed Brooks' status for the worse.

Trump will sometimes endorse a RINO if there is no good alternative.

Yes, Trump waited until the polls showed a clear leader to endorse. Trump only cares about his win/loss record and not the record of those he endorses.

That is why so many of his endorsements turn on him and his staff picks have been horrible.

Yes, because Trump cares more about his own win/loss record on endorsements than he does about endorsing solid constitutionalists.

Why would ANYONE pay attention to Corman. His initial campaign ads were an insult to my intelligence.

As for Mastriano, he talked a good game, but ultimately got nothing done.

I'm voting for Barletta.

who has embraced his false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

Didn't need to read past that to know this is leftist propaganda.

As Trump himself just stated:

Anybody that sees the great new documentary,“2000 Mules,” who doesn’t believe the 2020 Presidential Election was Rigged and Stolen, is either a fool, very corrupt, or stupid. Republican “leadership” should act now and do something. Our Country is going to hell!

Fool, very corrupt or stupid...yep. Describes the msm media and Republican "leadership" perfectly.

What more could he, as one man in the legislature, have done?

The RINOs would not hold a special session to investigate the fraud.

It’s always been a bit amusing during primary season to see the endorsement game being played - but in this particular primary season, endorsement fever is becoming hyperbolic.

I call it a “game”, because it is.

Political leaders who pick winners build up their “kingmaker” status - the idea being that if the candidate they endorsed wins, they can claim it was their endorsement that caused the win.

But what if the endorsement had nothing to do with the win - and the political leader is just good at guessing who will win? It doesn’t matter - it’s the appearance of being “kingmaker” that is important.

I love President Trump and want him to be seen as a kingmaker - so I’ll cheer him on as he racks up a near perfect score of endorsing winners.

But for us high-information voters, endorsements really shouldn’t enter into our decision of who to vote for - we think for ourselves.

That’s why it’s so funny watching FReepers hyperventilating over Trump’s endorsement of Oz - and how if you vote for anyone else you are betraying MAGA - even though Oz isn’t remotely MAGA.

According to PA people on twitter, Mastriano signs are everywhere so this is a safe bet...

I was in Pennsylvania traveling around the state in October of 2020, one month before the Trump/Biden election.

ALL I saw were Trump signs, proudly displayed everywhere, all over the state - we had to pull over in one town to wait for a very large Trump supporter parade to go by (my nephew was driving the lead vehicle, a big rig tow truck).

You will never convince me that Trump lost Pennsylvania.

But he did, via voter fraud.

Oz is a TV celebrity just like Trump was. The rest of the field are unknowns. I understand Trump endorsing Oz, but don't really agree with it.

This is annoying to me since Mastriano voted for MAIL-IN VOTING. Mastriano is naive & will Make deals with democrats if he even gets elected. Can’t believe Trump is endorsing these candidates.
