Steve Schmidt, cofounder of the disgraced Lincoln Project and former presidential campaign manager for the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), admitted Friday that he did not actually vote for McCain in the 2008 election, won by Barack Obama.

I voted for McCain purely on the hope that Palin would need to be sworn in one day.
McCain probably voted for Obama.
McCain did not want to win, he endorsed Obama.
First time I had ever heard of that.
McCain and Romney were both willing intentional Designated Losers.
Obama remained on the campaign trail saying, "I've got a pen and a phone," meaning he can be reached at any time on the campaign trail if he needed to be back in Washington. Many of us here on FR felt that if he wanted to be President so bad, he should have suspended his campaign as well, and headed back to D.C. as McCain did. From what I understand, Obama used the same "I have a pen and a phone" comment in January 2014. The full quote of his comment then was "I will use my pen and phone to take on Congress."
He should have shoved his pen and phone up his ass, and rotated.
McCain and Romney were both willing intentional Designated Losers.
I think that I may have voted for Dole without regret at the time or since.
Remember, stay out of the Bushes.
They believe in turning the USA into North Mexico.
The illegal alien inundation has been their top priority for 30 years.
McCain was a loser, ask his first wife......His responsible for the deaths of numerous sailors......
He should have shoved his pen and phone up his ass, and rotated.
That, unfortunately, conjures up unfortunate images that must be excised by recalling the “joke” that “My wife would divorce me if she could figure out how to do it without making me happy.”
Perhaps if Zero faced with a choice between the Bath House and the White House, he might have pulled a McCain.
Well duh!! McCain ran to guarantee an Obama win.
LOL!! Thanks for the laugh!!
Pretty sure I wanted McCain to stay in the race. That thing was passing whether he was there or not. He could’ve stayed in contact with staff in DC if there was anything needing “managing” and detoured for a day to make the vote. If he “had” to be there for two weeks, he was not running a serious campaign. It was an excuse to take a vacation from winning hearts and minds.
Like most campaign managers say, Win or Lose as long as the check cashes.
The GOPe is filled with geniuses, isn’t it?
Truly a sleazy character, along with a perfect example of why McCain lost.
A spineless, milquotoast “Republican” who refused to campaign on Obama’s history of anti-Semitism, race hatred, anti-Americanism and apologetics for Islamic terrorism.
I wonder if McCain voted for himself...
He didn’t vote for McCain in 2008. Clearly, he did not vote for Trump in 2016 or 2020. If you vote for the democrat in every election, doesn’t that make you a democrat?
Does anyone not realize that Schmidt and the Lincoln Project have always been working for the Democrats?
Steve Schmidt is a known liar and a sleazeball.
He could simply be saying this to ingratiate himself to Lincoln Project donors. He's aware that he gets most, if not all, of his funding from hard core Dems who worship Obama.
All the qualities of a dog except loyalty.
