Wash Post fact-checker calls uproar over Biden sending baby formula to border amidst shortage 'faux outrage'

Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler dismissed concerns the Biden administration was sending baby formula to border facilities during a nationwide shortage Thursday.

Parents have been struggling to find the essential commodity in stores, with supply dipping to 43% below normal, according to Datasembly, which tracks product data for retailers.

"This is a ridiculous faux outrage. The shortage of baby formula is a serious issue that the administration is seeking to address. But at the same time, the administration cannot be faulted for following the law and providing baby formula to undocumented immigrants," he wrote.

And they don't mention what Freepers are saying about the GVT being selective on what immigration laws to enforce.

cannot be faulted for following the law

Yes they can because they decide NOT to follow the law when it comes to protecting the border from the illegals in the first place.

The laws they choose to follow are the ones that hurt us and the ones they ignore would help us.

Exactly. It’s a faux law, and the only one they care about.

I don’t like the CATO types when they talk about military or foreign policy, but they’re usually good when talking about trade.

Scott Lincicome says the deep problem is tariffs and the FDA dicking Canadian, European and other First World producers. When there is a recall and contamination in a factory then no trade means no formula.

He says:

1) Repeal all baby formula tariffs (tariff rate quotas)
2) Require the FDA to allow the importation of any formula approved by a competent regulator (EU, Switzerland, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, etc)
3) Reform WIC (eg, no more sole source contacts)

Here is a long article about all that’s wrong here - https://capitolism.thedispatch.com/p/americas-infant-formula-crisis-and?s=r

It’s never fact checking. It’s always running cover for Dems.

Now this could be what the truth really is. Formula shortages? Let Gates, Bezos, and Suckerberg step in to save the day.

Anyone think this wasn’t a commie plan all along?

So, the ONLY law the WaPo wants to be enforced at the border is providing baby formula for all the potential democrat voters being born there.

Just more examples of the Media-Dem Party’s America Last and Make American Awful Again policies.

I’ve published this incident before but it’s a perfect example of how liberal think and how they virtue signal how wonderful they are.

A VP for ITT told us she’d prefer to hire someone out of prison because they need a break. I asked, “What about the guy who has kept his nose clean his whole life and he needs a job. Doesn’t he deserve an equal break?” She colored up and I got kicked under the table by my boss. My boss stepped in and changed the subject.

It goes like this. The problem is mentioned, and liberals shoot their virtue signal from the hip with no thoughts about how their solution affects others. Not even if it destroys others, so long as they get their I’m superior feel good moment.

The problem with the ITT case is she’s in a position to do whatever she wants. It’s only when things go badly that anyone would attempt to overrule it. Forbidding background checks is a perfect item on this list. It won’t be until an unscreened employee with a history of rapes is hired to go into someone’s home to fix their air-conditioning and commits a rape that anyone will even question the decision. By then it’s too late for the victim and, probably, the company who will be on the hook for whatever the court decides.

We had actually discussed this case earlier and the VP said, “Well, just because they’ve done it once doesn’t mean they’ll do it again and they’ve paid for it in prison.” That’s what led up to the event above.

But at the same time, the administration cannot be faulted for following the law and providing baby formula to undocumented [illegal] immigrants," he wrote.

Well, I can. The government should put the interests of AMERICANS before those of illegal immigrants.

Who is responsible for importing unlimited numbers of trespassing foreign nationals and discreetly hiding them at locations all over the country?

Do not forget that it was a defamation lawsuit by Stossel that revealed that “fact checkers” are legally only opinion writers. Under oath they admitted that they can say whatever they like regardless of truth — it is just political opinion.

Anything “fact checked” should be immediately challenged — show the facts and nothing but; or shut up. Anyone calling upon fact checkers should be treated as liars until proven otherwise.

Require the FDA to allow the importation...

100% correct. If Trump were President, this shortage would have been fixed IMMEDIATELY by an executive order overriding the FDA.

We also wouldn't be waiting TWO WEEKS for Abbot to reopen their plant.

Does anyone know what babies were fed prior to the availability of commercially manufactured baby formula?
