Actress Angelina Jolie is visiting the Ukrainian city of Lviv amid the Russian invasion.
Lviv’s regional governor, Maksym Kozytskyi, said in a Telegram post on Saturday that Jolie’s visit was a “surprise” and that she went to a medical center to see the children there.
Kozytskyi said Jolie was “very moved” by the stories of those surviving the war as she talked to children who have been caught in Russian missile strikes.
The Kyiv Independent shared a video of Jolie in a coffee shop in Lviv, a city close to the Polish border that has largely been spared from Russia’s brutal attacks.
Jolie also went to a railway station in Lviv, where she greeted internally displaced Ukrainians entering the city from the country’s eastern Donetsk region, according to the Ukrainian outlet.
Jolie is a special envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), but Joung-ah Ghedini-Williams, a spokeswoman for the UNHCR, told The Washington Post she is not in Ukraine in that capacity.

Of course, if she DID visit the Southern border, we know who she’d be sticking up for (not America, for those in Rio Linda). Maybe she’d adopt a few more immigrant kids.
Angie’s been doing things like this for a long time and typically doesn’t turn it into a photo op or press release. It’s not about her.
interesting that they didnt talk about her having to rush to an air shelter when a siren went off...nor did they show the video of the incident.

Something I noticed as an employee in large companies. When the big boss visits it causes havoc*. It causes sometimes a severe upset to whatever most of the people were supposed to be doing as they suddenly end up doing things just to support the visit and those things are not productive to the company. Something similar happens when a famous person appears at someone’s wedding. Suddenly the wedding is just an irrelevant part of everyone’s day and in some respects is ruined for the people to whom this was their special event. In my estimate most visits by famous or important people are not about those being visited, but about the ego of the visitor. Whatever is accomplished by the visit could, mostly, be accomplished better by other means.
Don’t get me started on famous rich people adopting “children of color.” Yeah, I’m sure they’ll all become solid, secure adults.
* I was somewhat of a maverick at General Dynamics. I had volunteered to do jobs in just about every department and since my boss often didn’t have work for me and it was a charge number, he let me do it. To my knowledge I was the only employee they had who did that. One day I was in a large meeting which had the top management from another division on the phone. He said, “Yeah, that’s a great idea but I simply don’t have anyone who can do that job.” I spoke up, which was not my place as I was just a pee-on, and said, “I can do that.” There was a stunned silence and he said, “Who spoke?” I introduced myself while ignoring the frowns from my management. We quickly worked out a deal and he emailed me a charge number. Sometime later I got a phone call directly from this man. Somewhat unheard of. He said, “Look I know there’s a (piece of expensive military hardware) somewhere in your facility. They say they’ve searched and can’t find it. But I’ve got their shipping records, so I know it’s there. Can I send you a twenty-hour charge number and you go look for it?”
I laughed. Got a cup of coffee. Rolled my eyes and shook my head. We’d had a vice president visit a few weeks back. That means everything stops the week prior and stuff gets moved from hallways into any spot open. People’s area of authority was marked by yellow tape. I knew that everyone had searched their area of authority...and no place else. Moving as slowly as possible because I had no other charge number, I asked each manager where his area of authority was. Each one pointed out the tape. It could only be outside of those taped lines. In the shipping area there was a large number of boxes neatly stacked beyond the lines. I asked the manager what was in them, and he said, “I don’t know. Not my area.” Rolling my eyes, I opened the boxes and found not only the missing equipment but a lot of other equipment that wasn’t missed yet. I put them all back into the systems and called the manager at the other plant. He said, “Forty-eight minutes. That’s amazing.” I said, “Yeah. I also had a cup of coffee and took a bathroom break on your charge number.” He laughed and said, “Well, use the rest of it with my compliments.”
That’s my chaos caused by a visiting dignitary story.
If she wants to fight the Russians, she should go there with weapons to fight. Other than that, this is just more celebrity virtue signaling.
