BUSINESSTHE ECONOMY IS GREAT. THE MIDDLE CLASS IS MAD The Economy is Great. The Middle Class is Mad mia_Time_MiddleClassFINAL Illustration by Richard Mia for TIME BY ALANA SEMUELS AND BELINDA LUSCOMBE APRIL 28, 2022 6:00 AM EDT Jeff Swope felt the first spurt of anger bubble up when he learned in February that his landlord was raising the rent on the empty two-bedroom apartment next door by more than 30%, to $2,075 a month.

Though Swope, a 42-year-old teacher, and his wife Amanda Greene, a nurse, make $125,000 a year, they couldn’t handle that steep a rent increase—not alongside the student loans and car payments and utility bills and all the other costs that have kept growing for a family of three. “The frustration—it was always a frog in the boiling water type of thing. I’d always felt it, but on a basic level. Something’s always brewing,” says Swope, from his modest apartment, where Atlanta Braves bobbleheads compete with books for shelf space. “We looked at the rent increase, and it was like, OK, this is ridiculous. I was like, ‘What the???’”

The “economy”is not great and has contracted by 1.4%, and the middle class has every reason to be mad.

Everyone who thinks the economy is in trouble is stupid, listening to Trump disinformation and Russian propaganda. They must be prevented from voting or even from talking because they are a danger to democracy.

The Democrat Party is the only thing protecting the Good People of the World from Trump and Russia and Nazis. Everyone who is not a Democrat is an insane psychopath racist Nazi.

There’s a whole generation, almost two, who don’t have any idea what it’s like to live through stagflation.

Welcome to the party, pal.

The media and the Biden Junta lying about inflation and the economy will just make people angrier. This article was written when economists expected the economy to grow by about 1%. Boy were they wrong!

They also do not understand that there are consequences for their actions. The Progressives will attempt to buy votes come election time with ‘rescue packages for the Dumbmasses. They keep saying they just need to spend more Government money to save the economy.
Prepare accordingly.

I didn’t realize Swope was a real name. I thought it was only in movies, as in Putney Swope.

It’s so great your real income is in rapid decline.

Meanwhile, when it really was great under Trump the media pooh poohed it.

Not just middle class.
The working poor are even more hit. I know a lot of “less fortunate” people trying to find reasonable housings as they are being pushed out of their apartments by rent increases.
The food increases, the gas prices, all that hits the poor the most.
Very sad.

They may be stuck on stupid, however, I think this was a planned submission—Conveniently timed same day (or one day later?) as Brandon’s proposal to forgive student loans...IMHO They teed it up for him...

Economics is a soft science. It can be manipulated to a degree but it is not infinitely malleable. Democrats find this out all the time but blame the rich. Republicans know this but ignore it so people will like them.

We are so screwed.
