Companies who are demanding workers back at the office every day may actually see their workers join the Great Resignation instead. It may especially be a challenge to get Gen Z workers to work in person all the time.
That's based on survey findings from ADP Research Institute. The new report, "People at Work 2022: A Global Workforce View", included results from a November 2021 survey of over 32,000 workers in 17 countries. The countries surveyed include the US, India, and the Netherlands.

Yep. I work for large banks. I wouldn’t even joke at the office. I would never talk about anything other than the weather or my dog. You simply cannot give anybody any excuse to make an HR complaint about you.....especially if you were so careless as to not pick your sex and ethnicity with current fashions in politics in mind before you were born.

They can stay home, not inter act, not collaborate, not mentor, etc. But that’s it, don’t look for a promotion or growth. If they had the wrong skin color or genitalia, they're not going to get promoted anyway.
Promotions in many industries are only when leaving one company to go to another.

We needed "the man" at the office to keep us in line. Being in the office just subjects one to the boss's deficiencies.
Conversely, I'm a computer screen away, more accessible than ever before, especially since most of the meaningful interaction is with people in other divisions and with outside companies.

Better get used to having to work again. The companies aren’t going to keep subsidizing video gaming on the company dime. The party is over.

“32,000 workers in 17 countries”... Now that is a solid statistic. Bravo. Offices, movie theaters and DOS programs are so 1990.

When I was working in the office we had people who regularly called in sick. When we were working from home we had those same people calling in sick....

At the end of the day, the free market will prevail. The inconvenient truth for the "you must be in the office 5 days a week" crowd is that more and more companies are offering either a hybrid or a virtual work environment. Millennials and Gen Z workers with younger children, will be leaving the companies with the old school mindset and going with those that will better meet their needs.
Situations and technology have changed and, lets face it, there is no longer a compelling reason to insist on employees being in the office 5 days a week. Of course, there are some jobs where that is not feasible. For a lot of industries however, the old in the office 5 days a week is no longer necessary. Employees now have a choice as to which environment to work in and they now hold the cards. (There is a labor shortage if you didn't know) So employers better learn to swim or they will sink like a stone for the times they are a changing.

I guess everybody is used to sitting at home and don't want to interact with anybody anymore If you're sitting at home and your productivity is as high or higher than it was when you were in the office then what difference does it make>
