Buttigieg floats 'monthly transportation payment' that 'covers everything' to replace car payments

The secretary of transportation says a "monthly mobility dividend" could be in the nation's longer-term future.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg suggested that transitioning to a "monthly transportation payment" from monthly car payments could be in America's future.

Buttigieg also said a "monthly mobility dividend" could lie further out in the future.

"What I mean by that is if we're looking way out into the future, where we have things like, let's imagine distributed energy generation where you have resources at your house, whether it's a dramatically more efficient, even solar panels and wind resources," Buttigieg said Wednesday at an event hosted by the liberal think tank New America.

"From your home, you can put more into the transportation system than you get out of it through things like energy, so that you would participate in creating so much value that you'd actually get a net dividend on it, instead of paying into it on a net basis," he added. "Now, that's pretty far out."

A "more intermediate goal" in the U.S. would be transitioning from monthly car payments to a "monthly transportation payment that's quite a bit less than a car payment that covers everything," said Buttigieg, a Democratic presidential candidate in 2020.

"We're actually seeing certain glimmers of this now," he said. "So some of the rideshare companies, for example, are starting to look at mobility as a service where you have some kind of interface, and it's neutral on whether you're on one of their bikes, or in one of their rideshare things or just on public transit, or some combination thereof, or it even leads to a train ticket or something.

A man trying to breast feed is child abuse. Imagine being a tiny infant who expects milk to come out and nothing comes out. Poor kid would starve if they didn’t supplement with a bottle of infant formula. If you were an infant living entirely on infant formula you would not need to be breast fed and would probably give up on the whole idea pretty quickly. So then the man parents would get upset with the kid because he wouldn’t satisfy their fantasies about being able to breast feed. Obviously an infant especially a white male infant would be homophobic and transphobic for not going along with it.

What a way to start a life. Thing is, liberals who are progressives think the child is a thing and should be thanking them that it didn’t get aborted. Progressives are utilitarians and people are merely things, no more valuable than dogs or cows or octopus. People are votes or consumers or workers. Conservatives think people are created and have a value that transcends mere utility. That is why progressives hate conservatives. Anyone who would think that a baby deserves a woman’s breast instead of a man’s chest is a threat to their power.

Butt-man needs to volunteer for the “manned” Mars mission—his ideas will fit in very well there.

Well, we can’t send him to Uranus. He’d like that.

This man is a deranged queer. One thing that is unforgivable in a person is “Pride” in activity they should be ashamed of.

Left wing radicals love to “imagine” things. Like John Lennon did. And that’s when things get really @##$@$% up.

Kids imagine. Adults live in the real world ......fool.

My wife did adoptive breast feeding. Supplements gave her some milk (not enough), but she used a device, formula in a plastic bag attached to a thin tube that allowed our children to get milk from her and the tube at the same time. She was also able to pump into the bags while awaiting children two and three so sometimes got her milk from the bag as well.

Breast feeding is good for bonding as well as nutrition. Men have no business playing what is very much a woman's game.

Well there are some solar panel hawkers here on the forum. They are not incorrect that you can make money on your electric bill in some states like my own (Virginia). What they fail to mention is that you neighbors subsidize your virtue signaling. Your panels do nothing to lower costs to the power company. Instead they increase costs and your neighbors pay for it.

That's the part they always leave out. Same with Boot Edge Edge. He doesn't mention who will pay and that will probably be you if you don't live in you mother's basement or a coop in NYC.
