If you were an infant living entirely on infant formula you would not need to be breast fed and would probably give up on the whole idea pretty quickly.

My wife did adoptive breast feeding. Supplements gave her some milk (not enough), but she used a device, formula in a plastic bag attached to a thin tube that allowed our children to get milk from her and the tube at the same time. She was also able to pump into the bags while awaiting children two and three so sometimes got her milk from the bag as well.

Breast feeding is good for bonding as well as nutrition. Men have no business playing what is very much a woman's game.

TBH, I *still* haven’t completely given up on the idea...
