GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A federal prosecutor withdrew Tuesday from the case of a plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, days after two men were acquitted and the jury couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict for two more.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Roth notified the judge in a brief court filing. He's not required to give a reason.
...
Roth was one of two prosecutors at the high-profile trial of Adam Fox, Barry Croft Jr., Daniel Harris and Brandon Caserta. He gave the opening statement, saying the men wanted to kidnap Whitmer and create a “war zone here in Michigan,” and aggressively cross-examined Harris, the only defendant to testify.
Harris and Caserta were acquitted on April 8, while the jury deadlocked on Fox and Croft. .

He doesn’t want his name tied to this train wreck.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Roth is a complete loser.
His parents must be so proud.
“Good Job Son!”, “way to use your God given talents and our college money to argue for federal entrapment and destruction of four other human being’s lives.”
“Aunt Jenny sends her love.”, “says she’s tickled pink.”
“He doesn’t want his name tied to this train wreck.”
Too late. Jonathan was a willing participant in the failed attempt to railroad the defendants.
Governor Whitmer has been laying low for months.Smart move on her part. In fact I haven’t heard much from any Democrat Governor in a while.
Gosh. One would think that the FBI would have enough gravitas to fabricate this scam AND carry it through to a conviction.
Nope. It fell apart. Just like their phony Russia gate lies.
Failing to get a conviction at trial is a death sentence for their career. Most US Assistant Attorneys have a 100% conviction rate because they get to pick and chose what cases they accept. If its not a slam dunk they just pass.
That's how they punch out into the private sector and make real money.
This attorney chose poorly.
The deep state gave him a job to do, and he didn’t get it done.
I wouldn’t be shocked if DOJ transferred him to Mena, Arkansas.
Has anyone spoken about the vote on the deadlock?
That's how they punch out into the private sector and make real money.
This attorney chose poorly.
Don't worry about him. The Left takes care of its own. If he doesn't do too well as a defense attorney, a nice law school professorship will be found for him.
Not getting a true bill from a grand jury means that the prosecutor didn't want one - it was just theater.
Maybe he should prosecute the actual perps in the fbi 🤪
Nothing prevents the County DA from prosecuting the FBI agents for the exact same crime they tried to frame these folks with.
He should commit ritual seppuku for being such a putz.
“Hey, hillary told me this was a slam dunk. I was misinformed.”
Gosh. One would think that the FBI would have enough gravitas to fabricate this scam AND carry it through to a conviction.

The corrupt FBI depends on the people they target pleading guilty; not taking it to trial. Because if it gets taken to trial, the corrupt FBI gets exposed thru discovery as the corrupt FBI.
Just left a meeting with a state official who told me the FBI junior folks are completely demoralized. They all see what is going on, they are being manipulated politically and they are pissed about it... maybe we are finally getting to a turning point where the DOJ and FBI will actually start serving the American people instead of trying to control them... That is my hope anyway. Until then... read my tag line.
And not a single FBI agent will be fired or even disciplined for this disgraceful plot
If I were one of the defendants in that contrived sting operation, I would sue.
He should be prosecuted for malicious persecution and prosecution of political targets, IMO. Who know what ‘evidence’ they had and covered up that should have kept them from ever being prosecuted at all.
