NO MORE GAS APPLIANCES IN NEW YORK?

According to a new law that was enacted in New York City, and a new bill that is pending in the New York State Legislature, your ability to use fossil fuels in your home will soon change.

The New York State Senate and Assembly are currently debating a bill in committee that would amend the New York State Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act that was signed in 2019 to also include Natural Gas and Propane hookups in homes and other buildings.

Senate Bill S8198 and Senate Bill S6843B otherwise known as the Gas Transition & Affordable Energy Act and the All Electric Buildings Act would fundamentally change the way we heat bring heating and cooking energy to our houses and other buildings.

"Enacts the "all-electric building act"; provides that no city, town or village shall issue a permit for the construction of new buildings that are not an all-electric building if the initial application for a permit was submitted after December 31, 2023 unless certain circumstances apply." -NYS Senate Bill S6843B Summary

If this law is passed and signed by Governor Hochul, starting in 2024 any new structures that are built in New York State would be required to be fully electric. Also, no local municipality would be allowed to issue a permit for new construction unless that structure has some special circumstance that has been approved by the state. This would apply to heating and cooking systems that use natural gas, heating oil, and propane.

A law very similar to this has already been enacted in New York City. NYC's Climate Mobilization Act bans the use of all fossel fuels in buildings of all sizes that are constructed, and those buildings must be fully electric by 2027.

Good call. Have them all depend upon ELECTRIC, then when the GRID goes, they can all scratch their heads.

My wife and I only looked at homes with natural gas.

This is crazy.

I don’t think I’ve ever lived in a home where the gas appliances still worked during a power failure.

My home here in Florida has a natgas furnace. It’s good to have a backup source of energy that way.

Energy efficiency per unit cost of gas appliances is so much better than electric.

DemocRats have never really been the party of choice.

They take choice away from everyone at every opportunity. Its the only way they can do anything. No one ever wants what they implement. They must force it any way possible as people do not want it.

Democrats are socialists.

Democrats are the party of Decrees and Mandates.

Democrats are the party of Central Planning.

Democrats are the party of Totalitarianism.

Your HVAC and dryer will not.

Your stove top and water heater will.

If your home is old enough, you will have NG ports for space heaters.

You can always operate a gas stove it may have an electronic ignition but you just turn on the gas and light it with a match!!

Exactly, and rebuilding/improving an electric grid doesn't happen overnight.

Morons.

Our stove works but has to be manually lit if the EV juice is out.

The gas fireplace has AA battery backup.

All of my gas appliances work (have gas) during a power outage. The stovetop just needs a match to light the surface burners and the water heater works as long as there’s gas.

People think gas companies can’t pump during a power outage. But they have pumps that run on, guess what? - Natural gas.

Been living in my house now for 20 years - never once did the gas stop flowing during a power outage, a couple that lasted for over a day.

My gas furnace won’t work without electricity either. It has an electric pilot and is forced air which requires an electric fan.

My furnace will work. It’s gas-fired and I have a cutout isolator and back feed for a generator.

Love it if true. Watch the entire economy come to a standstill and people fleeing from the state. Restaurants hate it, pensioners with propane or heating oil will freeze. These retromingent poltroons making these laws are insane.

This was part of the GND that was narrowly defeated in Congress in 2008 or 2010. It would have changed our way of lives drastically and not for the better. But it’s what the ppl voted for in 2020 so they can suck it. At least the mean tweets are gone, right? 🤣
