Mayor Eric Adams is mulling a mini-army of drones to fight surging crime in the Big Apple — possibly deploying the high-flying robocops from rooftops as watchful guardians of Gotham, sources told The Post.
Tel Aviv-based Blue White Robotics and Easy Aerial of Brooklyn were two drone manufacturers featured earlier this month at an event to launch a NYC-Israel Chamber of Commerce.
Adams attended the gathering in the Williamsburg Hotel, and sources said the mayor was so impressed with the joint presentation that he suggested his chief technology officer Matthew Fraser and the firms’ honchos begin talks about the city potentially buying drones and expanding the NYPD’s use of them.
“Eric is a big booster of drones and how they can be used to streamline government function, but obviously whatever he would try to roll out would be constrained” under existing laws limiting drone use, said a source familiar with the mayor’s thinking.
The drone makers – whose clients include the US Department of Defense, Air Force and Customs and Border Protection – say they’ve dubbed the plan the “Soteria Project,” derived from a Greek word meaning “deliverance from a crisis.”

The best story I heard from the war in Ukraine was about a Russian drone that buzzed a highrise apartment building in Kyiv. A grandmother living in the building saw the drone just outside her window, and threw a jar of pickles at it. The jar hit the drone, causing it to crash. Will the New York drones be able to handle the impact from a pickle jar?

If you could chase down actual criminals with an armed drone, then ok. But these drones will be used for big brother surveillance.
This guy is crazier than DeBloobio. He is like a kid in a candy store drunk on sugar power doing all he ever dreamed of doing .Things that aren’t even about his real duties of mayor. He is a little dictator of the most seriously dangerous type.
He could be a lot like rocket man Kim given time.
What good will it do when they turn criminals loose with no bail within hours of arrest?

Here’s a novel idea, I know some will disagree with me, call the idea absurd, but how about sending criminals to jail for a long time instead of immediately releasing them with no bail?
Hey Adams! Give the cops back their night sticks and encourage them to use them. That will work.
In a few weeks there will be cries of outrage: “The drones are disproportionally targeting people of color.”
So, mayor, can you reprogram the things so they ignore 4/5 instances of POC crime and go after Whiteys who spit their gum on the sidewalk?
