Thinking that the election was clean isn’t “woke”, Donald. It’s simply dumb, that’s all.

Trump can read Civiqs surveys and knows he can safely dump Mo. Thanks for volunteering to be the poster boy for Don’t cross Trump.

Mo Brooks ran in the 2017 special election primary for Jeff Sessions' senate seat. Roy Moore led with 38.9%, 2nd was Luther Strange with 32.8%, and Brooks was 3rd with 19.7%. In the 2-candidate runoff, Moore beat Strange, and ended up losing to Doug Jones in the general election.

Brooks and Moore split the conservative vote, to Strange's benefit. Both strongly opposed McConnell, and true to form, McConnell gave his backing and boatloads of money to the establishment candidate, Strange.

Strange was endorsed by Trump, Pence, and McConnell. Say what you will about Moore, but either Moore or Brooks would have been a much better choice than Strange who is a corrupt swamp creature. The stench of corruption that hovered around Strange would have been heavily exploited by Jones, and Strange would probably have lost, in spite of the conventional wisdom that he was a shoo-in.

Strange was one of Trump's worst endorsements. Let's hope he is getting better advice this time.

McLaughlin & Associates did a poll 3/10-3/13 commissioned by ForestPAC, the PAC for the AL Forestry Assoc., who have endorsed Durant.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – "According to new polling data, U.S. Senate candidates Katie Britt and Mike Durant have established an early lead, and Congressman Mo Brooks will face an uphill battle as the race continues.

The poll, conducted over a three-day period last week, collected information from 500 respondents who intend to vote in the Republican primary election across the state of Alabama.

When asked, ‘If the primary election were held today among the following candidates, for whom would you vote?’ the respondents favored Durant 33.8%. Britt followed with 32%, and Brooks lagged behind with 17.6%. 16.6% of voters remain firmly undecided. The poll was commissioned by ForestPAC, the political arm of the Alabama Forestry Association (AFA). Britt has received an endorsement from the AFA.

According to the poll, Brooks is the most recognizable name on the ballot with only 4.4% of voters never having heard of him. Britt and Durant were unfamiliar to about 10% of respondents."

The poll's topline [PDF] shows a hastily-derived poll made to order against Brooks.

But the McLaughlin's are tight with Trump and surely made him aware of the results before release.

Brooks' band of miscreants -- to call them campaign managers would libel all other campaign managers -- had nothing prepared for this target poll, other than to reply 'neener, neener' on Twitter. That is inexcusable.

At the bareass minimum, Brooks should have purchased his own poll (or have at least 2 different rolling polls quietly going) and released whatever counter he's got on Durant, because Brooks can beat the girl in a runoff.

Educated guess is that Trump is dumping a bad campaign more than dumping Mo Brooks.

Great going Donald, you just ensured that a RINO like Katie Britt or Matt Durant will get the nomination. I am done with Trump and strongly desire someone else in 2024.

I’d like to see Trump pull his endorsement of Herschel Walker, although it’s probably too late in the process to shift gears on that race. Walker is dumb as a rock and arrogant enough to think he’s qualified to be Senator. Trump probably encouraged him to run thinking Walker would follow his lead when it comes to policy. Big mistake on Trump’s part. Walker refuses to endorse Trump-endorsed Perdue over Brian Kemp. He hides from the press even more than Biden does, and he’s pro-amnesty. But he’ll end up coasting to a win based on name recognition alone.

My only hope is that Trump has a sit down with him and tries to set him straight.
