Trump withdraws endorsement of 'woke' Mo Brooks
The Hill ^ | 3/23/22 | DOMINICK MASTRANGELO

Former President Trump has pulled his endorsement of Rep. Mo Brooks in this year's Alabama Senate primary, slamming the Republican as "woke" and disloyal to him for doubting his claims about the 2020 presidential election.

"When I endorsed Mo Brooks, he took a 44-point lead and was unstoppable. He then hired a new campaign staff who 'brilliantly' convinced him to 'stop talking about the 2020 Election,'" Trump said in a statement issued on Wednesday morning.

"Very sad but, since he decided to go in another direction, so have I, and I am hereby withdrawing my Endorsement of Mo Brooks for the Senate. I don’t think the great people of Alabama will disagree with me. Election Fraud must be captured and stopped, or we won’t have a Country anymore.

I actually think you’re a bot, but whatever

Oh please grow up.

This whole thing by some FReepers of labeling someone a bot, or a troll, or a Putin shill or a Zelenskyy shill, etc is just so ignorant and intellectually lazy. Good grief.

You seem to be advocating: “shut up about the Democrats stealing a Presidential election”.

I agree that Trump’s instincts are good on this, but only to the extent that it serves HIS OWN purposes and undermines the Biden administration. I don’t think those instincts necessarily extend to legislative races in the House and Senate. The evidence for this can be seen in the poll numbers posted earlier on this thread. Trump claims that Brooks dropped like a rock in the polls after he stopped harping on the stolen 2020 election, but those same poll numbers show that more than 60% of Alabama voters now support two candidates who have been ignoring the 2020 election fiasco all along.

If I was a candidate running for the U.S. Senate in Alabama this year, any references to the 2020 election would be limited to the following:

“I’m running so I can help fix the disaster that has been brought on this country by Joe Biden — a corrupt, FAILED president whose cronies stole the election for him in 2020.”

Don’t ever talk to me that way. It’s disrespectful. Bot, troll, or name caller and disruptor, which you seem to be quite often, none of it is helpful to the debate.

Thanks — LOL.

Unfortunately, posters like AAABEST are a big reason why these quarterly FR fundraisers now last almost the entire quarter. Who wants to pay good money to be insulted by some @sshole?

Stop living in the past.
A rigged election in 2020 isn’t the issue which is who is the best candidate for the senate in 2022 and what is the best way to win.
The best way to take back the Senate is to elect candidates like Brooks. Trump isn’t helping. If it isn’t Brooks, then a likely winner is Durant who is a Mitt Romney republican.

Re: 143 - A reasonable position.

Expect to take heat for it from several/many FReepers.

I asked you to grow up and stop suggesting that people who hold conservative viewpoints that differ from yours are bots.

Don’t like it - then knock off the name calling.

OK fine, but take a look at this information on Durant:

I do believe it as do others based on the posting manner and history, not the content. Your behavior is consistently antagonistic, rude and uncivil. DO NOT EVER SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY.

I have never said any such thing.

I believe Trump himself should be conveying that message loud and clear — but mainly in the context of Biden’s corruption and abject failures as a politician and as a man.

My point is that the further away you get from the White House or the state election process in the political hierarchy, the less relevant this is as an issue. If some local candidate for mayor ran a “Trump was robbed in 2020!” campaign in 2022, he’d surely get my vote but would probably be written off as a clown by most voters.

Mo Brooks ran in the 2017 special election primary for Jeff Sessions' senate seat. Roy Moore led with 38.9%, 2nd was Luther Strange with 32.8%, and Brooks was 3rd with 19.7%. In the 2-candidate runoff, Moore beat Strange, and ended up losing to Doug Jones in the general election.

Brooks and Moore split the conservative vote, to Strange's benefit. Both strongly opposed McConnell, and true to form, McConnell gave his backing and boatloads of money to the establishment candidate, Strange.

Strange was endorsed by Trump, Pence, and McConnell. Say what you will about Moore, but either Moore or Brooks would have been a much better choice than Strange who is a corrupt swamp creature. The stench of corruption that hovered around Strange would have been heavily exploited by Jones, and Strange would probably have lost, in spite of the conventional wisdom that he was a shoo-in.

Strange was one of Trump's worst endorsements. Let's hope he is getting better advice this time.

I think many good people have left this website over the years because of the way they’ve been treated — and they stop donating when they stop coming here.

It’s easy to make an accusation. Unless you are willing to lay out IN DETAIL why you claim that, you’re just impugning a FReeper based on a belief with no evidence.

Some of my postings call for mutual respect of FReepers and providing sources for claims. There are multiple FReepers that don’t get that - they make personal comments about FReepers, tag FReepers as bots, shills, trolls, etc. And lots of that name calling is due to FReeper A not agreeing with FReeper B.

Thank your lucky stars I am not an admin mod. The whole tagging FReepers with shill, bot or trolls would be nipped in the bud.

No; rejecting the “rehash” of 2020 is the losing strategy.

Next up... Katie Britt. I saw Mo said get over it at a Trump rally and he was boo’d off the stage. He can’t read a crowd. He won’t win now anyway, he is toast. Trump pulled his endorsement, he is now done. No clue about Durant. Everywhere I go the i hear basically the same thing... People don’t trust anyone because the election was rigged. First you have to care about that, once you prove to them you care about the rigged election, then they will listen to everything else you have to say. That is what is going on out there.

Mutual respect? I haven’t seen much in the way of respect for others from you here. That is a long-term observation. That is my opinion.

Well, I think you must have missed the several posts where I apologize when I realize I stepped over the line, or thank someone for posting something, etc.

Most or many FReepers used to be on the same “team”. COVID-19 laid bare how much that has changed. Now several FReepers have devolved into name-calling tribes. Look at the whole vaccine vs. no-vaccine issue.

But in your, oh, so humble opinion, the problem is those “other” people, not, of course, you? Wow. Self-reflection is your friend.
