Chicago Private School Injected Race Into Physics Class, Then Tracked Whether The Indoctrination Worked
The Federalist ^ | MARCH 04, 2022 | Spencer Lindquist

Posted on 03/09/2022 7:57:42 AM PST by george76

The Latin School of Chicago appears to have been a breeding ground for critical race curricula that later gave excuses for political violence.

lthough critical race theory has only come to the forefront of American politics in the last year, an email obtained by The Federalist dating back to 2016 proves the divisive ideology has been entrenched in American K-12 schools for much longer, sometimes where some least expect it.

An email from Elizabeth Denevi, who at the time was the director of studies and professional development at the Latin School of Chicago, shows the private school injected CRT into its ninth-grade physics curriculum and even tracked students’ changing beliefs on race and politics afterward.

Denevi explained that the high school freshmen would be taught a curriculum called “Social Justice in Physics,” which addressed “power dynamics, systemic racism, white privilege, and the shortage of people of color and women in the field of science, especially physics.”

The curriculum mentioned was constructed by Moses Rifkin, a science teacher from Seattle. His current bio on the extremist Southern Poverty Learning Center-backed Learning for Justice website explains that Rifkin “coaches white affinity groups” and “is particularly interested in helping those with privileged identities … understand their privilege and the role they can and must play in working for social justice.”

The email also noted that the effectiveness of the CRT teaching was tracked, with students taking identical surveys before and after being taught the curriculum “in order to track any change in beliefs.”

A separate email disclosed by a concerned parent detailed some of the survey questions, which included inquiries into the political and racial attitudes of high school freshmen. Students were asked to disclose whether they agreed with a number of different statements, including “American society fits my definition of racist” and “White Americans must recognize that justice for black people cannot be achieved without radical changes in the structure of our society” among others.

Given that answers were recorded and the questions were re-administered after students had undergone the leftwing curriculum, it’s clear that administrators intended to gauge the success of their indoctrination, hence the email outlining an intent to “track any change in beliefs.”

Rifkin’s ideologically motivated focus on injecting leftwing racial politics evidently hasn’t changed since he designed this curriculum. In a 2021 article published in Edutopia, Rifkin argued “infusing our instruction with social justice is very much a part of our job” and pulled from the work of Marxist Paulo Freire before advertising his new curriculum, The Underrepresentation Curriculum Project, which was funded in part by SPLC’s Teaching Tolerance. The leftwing curriculum features allegations of white privilege, citing critical race theorists including Robin DiAngelo as authorities.

The Latin School Of Chicago Was A Launchpad For Leftwing Extremism In Education There’s no doubt this curriculum was implemented specifically for ideological ends. It appears to have also launched further ideological outreach in other schools.

Just months after the Latin School of Chicago implemented this curricula, Denevi co-founded Teaching While White, a far-left organization that defends political violence and demonizes white people. The organization’s website explains that it “seeks to move the conversation forward on how to be consciously, intentionally, anti-racist in the classroom.” Teaching While White claims on its website that “since racism was created by and for White people, it is our responsibility to dismantle it.”

The organization also runs a program called STAR, Students Teaching Anti-Racism. In the FAQ, the organization openly defended political violence and riots, saying “protesters sometimes feel they need to resort to violence to draw needed attention to their cause.”

The FAQ also shamed those who object to political correctness, remarking “White people who use the term negatively are displaying a defensiveness that is a hallmark reaction of white fragility and privilege fragility.” It also parroted the leftwing lie that “white people can not experience racism” and said racial bias against white applicants in hiring or admission decisions as a result of affirmative action policies is not an example of discrimination.

The organization’s core beliefs included statements such as “self-reflection is critical and a first step; you cannot dismantle anti-racism in society until you see the racism, colorism, privilege, white-dominant culture, and bias within yourself.” Yet another was that “racism and the white-dominant culture are the ‘norm’ in America,” a fundamental belief of CRT.

Teaching While White’s work is underpinned by extreme influences. Denevi is married to Randolph Carter, whom she describes as her hero because of his involvement in the Communist and historically violent Black Panthers. Carter is also listed as a senior consultant to Teaching While White on the organization’s website.

Denevi’s leftwing extremism was evidently not merely confined to racial topics. A leaked email from her tenure at The Latin School of Chicago reveals that Denevi sent administrators an NPR article titled “For This Transgender Third-Grader, Life As A Boy Is Liberating.”

Given that the implementation of leftwing curriculum dates back to 2016 and Denevi’s promotion of child transgenderism dates back to 2015, we find yet more proof that while CRT and other dangerous forms of leftism have only recently been exposed, its presence in classrooms across the country is not new. This also provides further evidence that leftist extremism seeks to infiltrate every institution and discipline rather than just the social sciences, history, and humanities.

The Latin School of Chicago did not respond to a request for comment.

Reading this piece leaves me to a greater admiration for Trump given the title of a previous piece: “Trump ‘admired’ Putin's willingness to ‘kill whoever’” We approached that line long ago given some of the “actors” in this country, their beliefs,
how they indoctrinate our youth, and what needs to happen to them.

Want more people of color in physics?

Stop destroying black families with handouts that get bigger when you have no dad in the home.

Be serious about discipline in schools and kick out those who make learning impossible in inner city schools.

Make kids do homework, challenge them. If they don’t pass FAIL them. If they get a D in any class no basketball or football or cheerleading.

Or keep doing what you are doing and have them blame whitey.

I am surprised there are not more physics students, considering the high volume of smash and grabs at book stores nation wide

***Their followup study will be “the shortage of white people on professional ball teams, especially basketball”.

The way to fight indoctrination in the schools is to actually spend time with one’s own children, so the parents can be the main influence on their kids.

Nowadays parents barely talk to their kids, and expect the school to raise their kids for them, then are shocked that the schools are using that opportunity for their own agendas.

Nobody will raise your kids for you because they like you, they do it for their own reasons.

Obviously, very little, if any, actual physics was taught there.

I suppose it never occurs to these leftists that creating a fake science class and labeling it “physics” and subjecting minorities to thelse kinds of scam classes taught by scumbags is one reason why there are so few minorities in true science fields.

I thought they would want to see if introducing social justice into physics improved the students’ understanding of physics, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

“The curriculum mentioned was constructed by Moses Rifkin, a science teacher from Seattle.”

The name Rifkin rings a bell:
* * *
https://keywiki.org/Jeremy_Rifkin

. . .New American Movement genesis
The concept of the New American Movement originated soon after the disintegration of Students for a Democratic Society in Chicago in 1969, when John Rossen, a one-time district organizer for the Communist Party USA and then the landlord of the SDS offices, distributed a number of pamphlets calling for a new revolutionary force based on a combination of Marxism and American nationalism, and organized the Johnny Appleseed Movement for Peace and Human Rights.

Rossen’s ideas gave birth to two groups. Chicagoan Jeremy Rifkin took over Rossen’s pamphlets and and graphics to form the People’s Bi-centennial Commission, in which Rossen remained active until at least 1975, while another group developed other aspects.

Rossen’s influence with the early New American Movement remained at least through the end of 1971, contributing an article to the first issue of NAM’s newspaper New American Movement dated September-October 1971.

In January 1971, Rossen’s ideas were adapted by three former SDS activists - Theirrie Evelyn Cook, one of the negotiators of the People’s Peace Treaty with the Vietcong; Michael P. Lerner and Charles “Chip” Marshall, then enjoying a brief notoriety as leader of the Seattle Liberation Front, then trial for inciting a riot in response to the contempt citations in the Chicago 8 Conspiracy Trial. The three Seattle organizers circulated papers call1ng for the creation of a new revolutionary party which they then termed. the New American Community Party.

In the late winter of 1970 and into the the spring of 1971, this group worked closely with Rennie Davis in developing plans for the Washington, D.C. Mayday disruptions in support of the Vietnamese communists, with Lerner and Marshall becoming active leaders National Mayday Collective. The Mayday organization provided· the New American Community Party with the opportunity to reach a large segment of the radical community and to receive input from New Left theoreticians such as Douglas Dowd and Staughton Lynd.

New members were gained and the name New American Movement began to be used. . .

National Committee for a Citizens’ Commission of Inquiry on U.S. War Crimes in Vietnam
Rifkin was the National Coordinator of the pro-Hanoi, Marxist-dominated National Committee for a Citizens’ Commission of Inquiry on U.S. War Crimes in Vietnam Citizens’ Commission of Inquiry (CCI), founded in 1970 to expose so-called U.S. war crimes in Vietnam.

Besides holding “hearings” on war crimes as told by soldiers, many of them Vietnam veterans, Rifkin and CCI put up a “War Crimes” display in the Longworth House Office Building annex in January 1971, with the help of Marxist congressman Rep. Ron Dellums (D-CA). A short story on this event appeared in the Feb. 6, 1971 edition of the conservative weekly “Human Events, P. 107, along with a photo of both of these people.

A letterhead and the first page of a CCI letter from late 1970 appeared in the study “The Meaning of the Bicentennial: Volume One: The Peoples Bicentennial Commission” (PBC), Max Friedman, ACU Education and Research Institute, 1976.

More of Rifkin’s Marxist activities were exposed in the congressional testimony of Frank Watson in 1976 concerning the PBC TITLE:

Rifkin, who got a lot of business funding for his basically fraudulent PBC later changed its name to the Peoples Business Commission as a way to divert attention from its original Marxist organization which was basically created by former Communist Party USA (CPUSA) activist in Chicago, John Rossen, aka Johnny Appleseed. After working that new organization for a while, Rifkin turned towards the environment and the economy, thus setting up the Foundation for Economic Trends (FET). . .

These are the faces of the men who discovered the elements. Some elements , like gold , have been known for so long nobody knows who found it first. The first name starts in 1699. The last natural element was discovered in the 20tb century. In all that time anybody or any race could have contributed. Not much diversity here though.
