The 4 p.m. remarks will come after Biden calls transatlantic leaders.
President Joe Biden was set to speak to the nation Friday afternoon on what the White House said are U.S. efforts to ease tensions over Ukraine, amid increased shelling and possible false-flag attacks Russia could use to falsely justify an invasion.
Biden will make remarks after he holds a call with translatlantic leaders to discuss continued efforts at deterrence and diplomacy and what the White House called "Russia's buildup of military troops on the border of Ukraine."

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will participate in the call, along with the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Romania, the United Kingdom, the EU, and NATO

That would be appeasement to a Russia that is in low standing and has little power. They can’t hold Urkraine. Russia is weak and this is why they only attack non NATO nations.

Biden might take action then.
A president is supposed to comfort the nation when he speaks in that fashion. But with Biden, he reminds us all that the nation is hanging by a frayed thread with him in charge. And all our betters comply and cheerfully accept the hammer of total destruction that is about to fall.
If that is truly the case then NATO no longer serves any purpose. The Europeans are surely capable of defending themselves from the "weak", "low standing" and "little power" Russian threat, correct?
These non-NATO countries could easily form their own alliances if they believe they are under the threat of imminent invasion or destruction from the Russian teddy bear, right?
In none of these scenarios is American blood and treasure required. The overtures of the Ukraine becoming a part of NATO should never have been made in the first place. What other way would Russia take such a move? Would we be more affable if China formed an alliance with Canada or Mexico?
This is a tribal conflict split along ethnic lines. I cannot see how this affects the security of the United States or frankly that of the European Union. Let their peoples settle their differences, and leave us the hell out of it.
Just another chance for Biden to talk tough while Putin laughs.
