DeSantis spox rips Washington Post for 5 a.m. “no comment” email
The Capitolist ^ | February 10th 2022 | Brian Burgess

The timing of an email sent from Washington Post reporter Adela Suliman has been called into question by a spokeswoman for Governor Ron DeSantis, after the Post published an in-depth story about Republican efforts to restrict some discussions in Florida schools about sexual orientation and gender identity. The story was filled with quotes from DeSantis’s political opponents but failed to include a response from the governor’s office.

DeSantis spokeswoman Christina Pushaw blasted Suliman and the Washington Post, alleging that the email seeking DeSantis’s side of the story was sent at 5:20am Eastern Time, and only after Suliman had the story ready for publication. Suliman’s story was published on the Washington Post’s website at 7:44 a.m., just over two hours after the email to DeSantis’s team.

After emailing a response to the Post, Pushaw took to Twitter to demand an apology from the Post and Suliman for what Pushaw says was a lack of ethics.

An aside, it is hilarious how attempting to ‘restrict discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity’ in schools outrages the left at the very time they’re in the process of criminalizing political speech they dislike nationwide.

This is the sort of people that Bezos, an enemy of good and decent American people, hires.

For some reason this reminded me of the bungled attempt by the Japanese Embassy to deliver a message declaring war on the US minutes before the Pearl Harbor attack.

We've come a long way since the days of All the President's Men where Woodword and Bernstein had to jump through endless hoops not only to verify the information they were publishing, but also to get and be certain about comments and responses from parties involved.

The WaPo is much closer to a traditional tabloid than it is to classical journalistic press

There is a powerful homo lobby behind this. Of course perverts will position themselves in situations that give them access to children. Anything sexual will be as scripture to those monsters. Object to any of it and you are painted as a hater, bigot, racist, you get the drift. It has become that the only way you know you are doing the right thing is if a leftist is rending their clothes and gnashing their teeth over it.

Yes. But don’t confuse an honestly delayed message/response/reaction with clear ignoring of the DeSantis’ team response. This was just pure leftist gaming of the article so they could include the standard “no response.”

“Object to any of it and you are painted as a hater, bigot, racist, you get the drift.”

Agreed, but I don’t care anymore. Those labels have been so overused and misapplied that they have no meaning or impact on true conservatives any longer.

They only people that care are leftists, RINOs, entertainers and Joe Rogan.

RD’s best quote of late?

“The medical science didn’t change. The political science changed.”

That’s POTUS level eye-poking.

Roll MAGA, roll!

As long as Bezos lets his marxist employees, at his money-losing newspaper, do what they naturally do, he’ll never have to worry about Congress/DOJ breaking up Amazon. All in all the WaPo is cheap insurance.

Its a common tactic of the liberal media. When going with a story critical of a republican politician, Wait until the very last minute before pretending to seek comment from the Republican or his office, knowing they won’t have the time to respond.

Then when they go to press, they end the article with “Republican so and so did not respond to request for comments”

I’m reminded of the time the news media was making an issue out of the personal finances of texas congressman Phil Gramm. According to Gramm, one media outlet contacted his office, asking questions about specific financial items only about 4 hours before they were to go to press. He was perfectly willing to answer their questions, but he was in DC and his financial records were back in Texas. So he couldn’t answer.

The utter dishonesty of the Washington Post article is both breathtaking and revealing of the Post's fundamental belief that public school districts and teachers have control and superior rights over the parents of students. Contained in a larger package of provisions that revise state education law law and reinforce parental rights in education, here is the disputed language in Florida Senate Bill 1834:

3. A school district may not encourage classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students.

4. A parent of a student may bring an action against a school district to obtain a declaratory judgment that a school district procedure or practice violates this paragraph and seek injunctive relief. A court may award damages and shall award reasonable attorney fees and court costs to a parent who receives declaratory or injunctive relief.

In other words, what the Washington Post is defending is for public school districts and teachers to be free to initiate classroom discussions about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students.

The Washington Post no doubt approves of such class discussions in principle, but I doubt that most parents do. Note that the bill's language does not in any way restrict private counseling for students, which in other provisions the bill protects and encourages.

And the larger reason for the Post running such a fraud of a story is to provide a distraction from the Biden administration's dismal performance and collapsing poll numbers.
