(January 25, 2022)
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration is withdrawing the vaccination and testing emergency temporary standard issued on Nov. 5, 2021, to protect unvaccinated employees of large employers with 100 or more employees from workplace exposure to coronavirus. The withdrawal is effective January 26, 2022.
Although OSHA is withdrawing the vaccination and testing ETS as an enforceable emergency temporary standard, the agency is not withdrawing the ETS as a proposed rule. The agency is prioritizing its resources to focus on finalizing a permanent COVID-19 Healthcare Standard.
OSHA strongly encourages vaccination of workers against the continuing dangers posed by COVID-19 in the workplace.
This happened Tuesday, and took effect yesterday. It’s important, yes, but I don’t think it qualifies as “BREAKING NEWS” on Thursday. Just sayin’ :-)
Well, it’s almost Thursday. Hang me for three minutes :-)
The “continuing danger” in the workplace is senior management trying to force unwanted and potentially dangerous medical treatments on their employees.
OBTW, thank you for posting this. It certainly -is- important, and on a personal level, it happens to directly affect me through my employer.
Meh. All they did was pull the temporary rule. The same one that the courts tossed. The permanent rule is still pending.
Maybe they can pull the mandate off the military next.
TOO DAMNED BAD! You're a Justice of The Supreme Court of The United States, not a Senior Editor cranking out Opinion pieces for the bloody New York Times! You don't get to rule on the basis of your personal notions about whether these Federal mandates work or not; you are constrained morally and ethically to rule on the basis of Law as to whether they are LEGAL, or not! And they AREN'T; they amount to Federal overreach, and usurpation of separate powers that remain with the several States, and with The People.
If that's got you boo-hooing in your beer; LEAVE! It's patently obvious, anyway, that you owe your position to the Peter Principle, and the phenomenon of meritless advancement.
Yep, the jab that can't stop infection or sickness of the Omicron variant will magically end the pandemic if everyone gets it. $scinece!
damage done..
Federal civilian mandate is crumbling as well; I got an email this morning from the head of my organization stating that all disciplinary actions are on hold for those not in compliance, and that those seeking exemptions are not required to provide any more information or take any additional steps or actions related to their requests at this time. Many of us submitted exemptions months ago, with no word back on status for any of us. They were just keeping us in limbo, but for now it seems we need not worry... with the pandemic essentially over I think all the mandates will wither on the vine.
The scared or coerced most of the nation into getting the shots. They sowed a divide and radicalized a segment of people who went as far as to alienate people who were on their side. Mission accomplished.
Why isn’t Brandon fighting for this like there is no tomorrow? After all, he’s the smartest one in the room you would think since he cares so much, would have this front and center of all his policies.
A “mandate” is not a law. And anyway, isn’t OSHA meant to keep people safe at work, not experiment on them?
And on top of a demotion I hadn’t yet heard about!
So this is not moot because the harm if not immediate remains immanent. The SC has in the past taken a dim view of this kind of effery.
This is nothing but a temporary cease fire while OSHA re-arms and re-loads.
How about the short line, “Because the United States Supreme Court said our order was unconstitutional. All that other BS is just that - BS.
