Biden’s Likeliest Supreme Court Pick
The Atlantic ^ | 01/26/2022 | Elaine Godfrey

Like an air-horn blast at summer camp, the news of 83-year-old United States Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s imminent retirement is calling Democrats to attention. For the first time since 2016, when then-President Barack Obama tried and failed to appoint Merrick Garland to the bench, a Democratic president has the chance to fill an open seat on the Supreme Court, and this time around, he will likely be successful. But who will President Joe Biden choose? We know that his nominee will almost certainly be a woman. In 2020, then-candidate Biden vowed that he would respond to a Supreme Court opening by nominating a Black woman. Dozens of candidates are being talked about, but nearly all of the Court watchers I interviewed for this story have their money on one in particular: Ketanji Brown Jackson.

He's too old and why would she take the step backwards.

That makes the most sense.
Let’s see if he does it.
Now Garland has some huge bullseyes on him that should make him easily rejected. Ask any parent in Virginia!

Honestly, does someone here think Breyer honestly changed his mind after saying he won’t retire for a long time now?

What pressure could cause that?
Would he really do it out of persuasion on a political basis from talks with Pelosi and Schumer?

Why didn’t he say so months ago when he said he was NOT going to retire?

You are correct. He was talked into it because Biden is tanking. This hands Biden an issue to change the daily beatings and make it look like he has a win.

Sometimes you feel a lot older at 83 than you did at 81. Also, if someone suggests it and you are not sure, you won't say you are thinking about it because that makes you a lame duck.

He may very well do that and then we can watch "the crew" go totally nuclear on him.

Anything less than "Black Hitler" and their lefttards will go nuts.

I'm sure whoever is pulling Biden's strings will find a new commie to appoint. Someone who hates half the American people...someone younger than Garland, darker than Garland, and with a vagina... with the same hate for traditional Americans.

My guess is the Democrat/Socialists were putting unrelenting pressure on Breyer, worse that a Jackhammer.
You know how fanatics can be when allowed.
Their type followed Sinema into the Ladies Room so they could continue nagging her.

I bet he nominates Camel Toe to get her out of the VP office. Then, he can put in a better suited person for VP. Of course, Tulsi is the only one well suited and she’s still too left of center for me but at least has common sense. Problem with Tulsi is she’s not black...

Roy Blunt, Missouri
Richard Burr, North Carolina
Shelley Moore Capito, West Virginia
Bill Cassidy, Louisiana
Susan Collins, Maine
Kevin Cramer, North Dakota
Mike Crapo, Idaho
Deb Fischer, Nebraska
Lindsey Graham, South Carolina
Chuck Grassley, Iowa
John Hoeven, North Dakota
Mitch McConnell, Kentucky
Lisa Murkowski, Alaska
Rob Portman, Ohio
James Risch, Idaho
Mitt Romney, Utah
Dan Sullivan, Alaska
Thom Tillis, North Carolina
Roger Wicker, Mississippi

They will probably vote to confirm the Democratic nominee (as long as her record is relatively “clean”).

Well, if Biden wants to nominate a black woman, there’s always Stacy Abrams, Sheila Jackson Lee, Maxine Waters or maybe someone even weirder.

I would say that it would only take one democrat Senator running for re-election this year in a state that voted for Trump to block Biden’s far left-wing nominee, but the reality is that several Republicans will vote for whoever Biden picks.

Republicans always vote for democrat nominees. Only democrats vote on a party line basis against Republican nominees.
