Wisconsin has become the 16th state to call for a convention of the states to consider making a variety of changes to the U.S. Constitution, a move that drew bipartisan opposition in the state Senate but not enough to block its approval.

The resolution had passed 15 states, mostly in the South, before Wisconsin became the first since Mississippi in 2019 to approve it. Congress must receive requests from 34 states to convene a convention of the states.

I know Mark Levin supports this, but I don’t see any way that George Soros doesn’t hijack it.

I like the idea in theory, but demonrats will see this as an existential threat and will sabotage it at all costs in their favor and make things unimaginably worse

This would be a great opportunity to split up the country. They can have most of it if we can just get them out of our hair.

“I know Mark Levin supports this, but I don’t see any way that George Soros doesn’t hijack it.”

Any amendments approved by a convention would still need to be approved by 34 state legislatures.

Just as in the original “runaway convention,” the Constitution had be approved by 9 out of 13 states before it became effective.

The convention is not a legislative body. All it can do is send amendments to the states for consideration.

Fools.

The first thing gone will be the bill of rights. It will get worse from there.

Given all of the unconstitutional amendments handed down by an unaccountable Scotus, we should welcome the opportunity by the Constitution’s legitimate owners, We the People, to amend or not.

"but I don’t see any way that George Soros doesn’t hijack it."

Exactly. If we can't get elected representatives to make the changes. I don't see how a constitutional convention will help. We're likely to end up with something worse.

But here's a write up that argues that the convention would be limited in scope and any proposed amendments coming out of the convention must be ratified by 38 states. I don't know by law if this is correct. I also don't know if the 16 states that called for the convention did include the 3 topic limit mentioned.

Convention of States Last Chance to save the republic

I can see some amendments such as limiting Congress from holding foreign stocks and equities of any kind.

I'm not a fan of term limits. I think experienced senators and congressmen are an asset. As long as they work in our best interest and not theirs. That's the problem. Character matters whether it's 1 term or 10.

perhaps, but to pass an amendment at a Constitutional Convention requires a 3/4 vote of the states or 38 states meaning 13 states could override any proposed amendment.

Things like the 1st, 2nd, and other amendments would never get changed if 13 states could stop the proposed amendments.

The trouble is the Democrats are much better at maneuvering than the Republicans so we might gain a little but give up a lot.

Worst idea ever for this time in the nation - liberals and commies will dominate, media will boost them declaring their positions absolutely necessary, while the “I don’t know who Washington, DC named after” crowd will duly oblige.

And so will end the US constitution as we have known it, and we will watch it change into a “living” document, changeable on whims of Congress or who ever the dictator will be.

Repeal the 17th would be the place to start.

Unfortunately, “We the People” will be every liberal commie scum out there. Every one else will just watch what’s left of the USA disappear.

I suspect the rat’s recent machinations to establish themselves as our permanent rulers will influence the Nebraska vote.

Only two senators made the difference . . . for now.

I thought the 2020 steal was enough to convince FR Article V opponents to grasp our Framers’ gift. I was wrong.

Apparently, even this close call with an authoritarian system smothering our Constitution isn’t enough.

Sad.

Well, that would probably do less good than a lot of people think. It’s the 19th amendment that causes most of the trouble.
