The public is fat dumb and happy, and has no clue what the elimination of gas-powered vehicles means. It will be a very rude surprise: long wait times for charges, high prices for charges, high taxes to build the infrastructure needed for the chargers, high electricity prices all around, batteries that lose their charge progressively every day, ridiculously high cost for replacing battery packs, blackouts because they won’t build more power plants, and finally freezing to death on the highway in cars that ran out of power.

Just how will AAA service vehicles with drained batteries? Will AAA come around and give you a shot of electricity - enough to get you home? Even if that were possible it would take 20 minutes to give you that charge.

We’re heading for disaster, folks!

It’s not through incompetence. It’s all planned. Oh, and do you think the ruling elite is going to be in electric cars? No, they won’t be.

When they hitch their criminal rig to something they stick to it, solar electric cars, wind, climate change, pandemics.

go total renewable energy by requiring charging stations to use solar and wind power independently instead of connecting them to the national electrical grid...

problem solved...

my favorite drawback to EVs is when major catastrophes suddenly strike and tens or hundreds of thousands need to immediately evacuate, all pretty much in the same direction and the same time, causing immediate gridlock ... a chain reaction of dead batteries ensues, with no possible cure, and soon tens or hundreds of thousands of dead EVs are pretty much permanently stalled, with no chance of being removed for several weeks ... in the mean time, their passengers are doomed as the catastrophe catches up with them and they run out of water, food and either heat or cooling, and no way to be removed from the stall-zone ...

What if nobody wants to buy an EV. Sure, it’s a big thing right now for people who can afford it. But not everyone can afford it. And if charging them is such a hassle, even those who can afford it won’t want one anymore. Oh, well.

There is no way these new fangled EV cars are going to replace the good, old-fashioned horses, buggies, and whips.

These tools have served mankind for thousands of years.

Electricity is dangerous and kills people.

Why fix something if it isnโ€™t broken?

I’ve done the math before. The author is correct, to recharge a large number of vehicles at once would require a HUGE power requirement and there is NO WAY our power grid is anywhere near ready. We would need two to three times the number of power planets to provide the additional power. And then the accompanying infrastructure would need billions of dollars in upgrades.

I well remember threads here on Free Republic trash talking hybrid automobiles.

Fast forward 20 years and now the threads are all about EVโ€™s and how worthless they are.

Somethings never change. Wrong then. Wrong now.

Leftist run cities can’t even handle the air conditioners going on every summer, how are they going to handle electric cars on top of that? When I lived in NYC ever freakin’ summer we had blackouts.

The reality is that the powers that be wish to remove mobility from the middle class. This is the way they do it legislate it away one rule at a time.

The only they can address the charge, real-estate, capacity problems (barring some 23rd Century tech miracle) is to force all EV manufacturers to develop automated drive-up-release-and-swapout batteries that are universal across manufacturer platforms like propane tank exchanges.

Even with that, it is a huge sunk cost for the suppliers.
