The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its mask guidance on Friday, saying that N95 masks provide the most protection against COVID-19.

The update comes days after Rochelle Walensky, the head of the CDC, said the website is “in need of updating right now” to elaborate on the “different levels of protection different masks provide.”

The masks are useless. They do nothing but inhibit breathing.

N-95 masks restrict breathing even more than those paper surgical masks which have no therapeutic value or worth whatsoever.

As one who has undergone major heart surgery, I know what being short of breath is really like.

Well, great discovery!
These are the only ones which do you some good. This have been known forever. In many places abroad they are the only one accepted.
Very expensive. And yes, some are even made in the USA!
See DemeTECH, the largest US manufacturer. They got lots of great reviews!

No, they do not.

The Virus cannot be restrained by a paper or cloth mask.

I don’t know about where you live, but these masks sold around here all say “Made in China.” Could that be the reason they are the gold standard???

N95s are useless against viruses.

For two years we've been told to wear the paper/cloth masks for protection and those of us who know better knew they were worthless and said so. So instead of eliminating the mask mandate, the CDC has doubled down and now say the N95 or KN95 masks are what we should wear. They are easily distinguished from the ones we have been using.

I expect that along with our vaccine cards, we will be required to have the proper N95 mask to enter stores or restaurants. Lord help school children who will need to wear those all day and, here in New Mexico, while playing sports. They are extremely uncomfortable and previously used for dust/particle control in industrial settings or at home while mowing yards or mechanical cutting wood or sanding. 20-30 minutes is my limit without removing to breathe freely again.

Wrong, the mask openings are smaller than the virus size, but they also make it more difficult to breathe and it must be fitted properly to prevent air in or out around the edges.

they work about as well as a chainlink fence being sprayed with a water hose, but yes, they work.

N95 masks filter coronaviruses like poultry netting filters mosquitos. That is, NOT AT ALL.

Your comparison is better than mine. I’m too technically minded. And most people don’t even know what poultry netting is.

Are you really this stupid? You really think it stops the virus itself? This is what’s wrong with this country. Stupid people like you.

Just wait until people actually wear a KN95 mask.

Indeed. Those masks were designed as task-specific tasks for protection while doing things like sanding wood or installing insulation. They are not intended for wearing all day, day in and day out.

Pretty awesome for the ole N95. For years, it was merely a particle mask aka dust mask. As of 2020 when surgical masks ran out, it got an upgrade to surgical mask which was really not an upgrade since all surgical masks do is keep the surgeon’s spittle out of your innards but in the end, ole N95 prevents aerosol viruses from getting into your respiratory system.

Pretty amazing since they don’t fit my thin face and when I sanded a dark paint job to prep for new paint, I would see dark streaks on my face that led straight to my nostrils. I ended up buying a P100 “particulate” respirator that has the silicone frame and comes in sm, med, lg etc. I take a medium. Sizes are not a thing with N95 DUST masks.

Yep.
Back in early 2020 the inventor of the material used in N95 masks was retiring from the University where he was employed. He said that the material wasn’t suitable for protection against a virus. Aren’t we told to listen to the experts and follow the science? Well, he was the for-real expert.
