You don't have to believe this guy with more than a half century of direct, hands-on experience in heavy industry and big agriculture with the use of PPE, including face masks ... just ask those in the medical industry; then ask yourself: If a surgeon showed up one morning to perform a gall bladder operation and was symptomatic with the Fauci Flu, do you think for a hot second that he would be allowed to operate on the patient because he would wear a properly selected, properly applied, properly fit-tested, properly worn and properly maintained N95 mask or even a "surgical mask"? You know damn well that surgeon would not be allowed anywhere near that operating room because it is physically impossible for a mask -- any mask -- to stop transmission of a respiratory virus, no matter how much you really, really, really believe the fiction that it can and no matter how much you really, really, really want to believe the vile lies that wearing a mask will protect you from a respiratory virus.
So let’s say they’re 3 times as effective as cloth masks.
Zero x 3 = zero.
Your #61, well said.
Not if it has the proper electro-static material that grabs the "skeeters" as they go by. Being small actually INCREASES the mask's ability to nab them. Those who can't comprehend basic physics will not understand this, I suppose.
ALSO, in terms of source reduction, virtually all virion emission is by droplets, which droplet emission even surgical masks worn properly reduce dramatically.* Water vapor itself cannot carry virions, and humans are lousy aerosolizers if not shouting, coughing violently, singing loudly, etc.
*Don't believe me? Anyone halfway bright can do their own tests.
It’s not droplets with an airborne virus. They float in the air and over 40 studies have proved these ineffective. Nice try though.
You have it correctly. The 800k probably could have been halved, maybe better. (Ramping up production would have been a problem for several months, and better designs (now available) were needed.
The irony: It all could have been voluntary.
When it comes to mass education of the public, CDC is possibly the worst agency on Earth.
For an “engineer”, you seem to have no concept of electrostatic attraction.
“Stops”? No. More like over 90% or better reduction. Viral load matters.
That's just wrong, but believe what you want. Just don't try out your beliefs by going in to some place where dangerous airborne viruses exist without any mask at all which you apparently believe provides you the same protection. Or at least if you do make sure your life insurance is paid up.
Since you think there are "over 40 studies" why don't you provide us a couple of links to studies showing N95 masks don't provide protection against viruses and other similarly sized particles.
Do you really believe N95 masks don’t block or capture small particles? Tell us what size particles you think they are effective against.
You are right. And the idea that kids, or untrained people will obtain anywhere close to the filtration possible with an N95 mask is foolhardy at best. So like most government plans it really won't work in actual implementation.
But that doesn't change the fact that N95 masks do filter out small particles including viruses.
People who say N95 masks don't filter out viruses because they don't always have the desired result in practice are thinking about as clearly as somebody who says their gun doesn't work because there are not any holes in the target. It made a series of loud bangs, but no holes in the paper.
Whether or not people use an N95 mask correctly, or whether or not they are practical for daily use doesn't determine if the masks themselves filter out viruses.
They actually perform better than that. See this 2017 paper on N95 testing.
Your thinking is sound - wearing an N95 mask is justified in certain circumstances. Like taking care of a person infected with a dangerous virus, or cleaning out a cabin previously inhabited by rodents, or sanding off certain materials.
Oh well.
I just had a large pulled pork burrito and a quart of refried beans. Habenjero sauce.
Dos cervezas.
I fart in the general direction of Fauci and the CDC.
5.56mm
The mask I have in the trunk of my car probably somewhere in the spare tire compartment provides precisely the same level of protection against an airborne respiratory virus where it sits since May 2020 as your mask does when you wear it improperly on your face around people who also wear their mask improperly on their face.
Furthermore, it is an exceptionally vicious lie to tell someone, especially if it's a medical "expert" who is doing the telling, who truly does need protection from a respiratory virus that they are "protected" when they wear a mask. It's a lie ... a damn lie! They are not protected by their mask, much less by anyone else's mask.
Best advice: If someone is symptomatic keep your distance. Your mask will not protect you from them.
Why don’t you spend five minutes and look it up yourself? I am not wasting time on somebody who has made up his mind no matter what.
And you know that how? I thought so - you don't.
Sounds good, I guess.
That's not the way it works for some FReepers - they make the claim - then it's up to you to prove their claim. The ultimate in intellectual laziness.
Or some of us could not care less if he believes me or not. We know the game, you send a link and they say it doesn’t count so you send another one and same thing happens. If he thinks his mask works that’s his problem not mine.
Why don’t you, instead, show what they do protect from since you want people to believe your BS claims
an educated guess- whereas they had mask mandates throughout the country
