"Texas Governor Greg Abbott is facing a potential defeat in the Republican gubernatorial primary, according to a new poll carried out for one his GOP opponents.

A Paradigm Partners poll published on Tuesday shows Abbott with just 32.52 percent support among likely Republican primary voters in the state, behind former Texas GOP chair Allen West on 38.36 percent.

The poll was conducted for West's campaign and differs starkly from other polls published late last year that appeared to show the Republican primary race was uncompetitive."

I will not vote for him in the Primary.

Why don't you like him? I'm not there, but from where I am in CA, he looks like the 2nd best governor in the country. He's finishing the border wall, or at least continuing it, he's aggressively taking all of CA's businesses & our conservative citizens.

"according to a new poll carried out for one his GOP opponents."

Please stop. Reminds me of the 2010 Kentucky Senate GOP primary when Bill Johnson, who polled like 2% in all the real polls, kept putting out "internal polls" showing he was neck-and-neck with eventual winner Rand Paul.

Bill Johnson dropped out months before that primary took place.

True, he did mess that one up. But, wasn't is once in a hundred hear freeze, and I read something about him vowing it wouldn't happen this year & making some corrections?

I like colonel West, but he will lose to Beto.

Abbott is certainly a better governor than most States have, but he’s not much of an aggressive fighter. He’s very Conservative at election time, he just manages to keep a few of those promises, unlike most Repubs. Better than a RINO, but definitely not the best Texas should be doing.

West will definitely make the primary a good fight at least, but it is very hard to boot an incumbent, especially in the primaries. Incumbents get what, 25-30% of the vote without even trying?

I know people voting to Allen West in the primary.

They would only vote for Abbott if he won the primary.

It's not that Abbott is bad, he's just not an aggressive Conservative. It took a bit of effort for him to get on the border, instead of being the leader to jump on the issue.

He's not taking CA jobs, the State does that perfectly well on its own. Plus CA doesn't help itself at all, they try to push business out. And it's not just conservatives coming here, there's plenty of Commies in the mix too. There's a reason Austin is known as a miniature California.

Exactly, which governor, or potential governor, would have forced the utilities to harden against weather never before seen in Texas.

George W. Bush? Naaa; Rick Perry? No way!!
DeSantis...nope.

It’s kind of like blaming whoever is governor for not being ready to deal with a Chinese nuclear strike. Easy to blame the guy in hindsight...but it’s an awfully high standard to expect him to anticipate it.

I’ve seen no evidence he is campaigning in Texas.

Many well known politicians have had that private moment of baffled astonishment as they think:
“I cannot believe I’m losing this Nitwit!”
