ASHINGTON (TND) — The U.S. Supreme Court is set to begin issuing opinions Thursday morning.
It’s expected that among them will be a ruling on the vaccine mandate for large employers and healthcare workers.
In a special session this past Friday to hear the case, Chief Justice John Roberts remarked that the federal government has never imposed a mandate like this on private companies.
The rest of the court's conservative majority also appeared to be leaning towards opposing it.
However, they seemed to be more understanding of the requirement for healthcare workers, saying that the government can impose conditions when there's government funding involved.
Court watchers now mostly expecting a split decision.
The opinions are expected to start coming down at 10 a.m. Thursday.
To my mind the ruling is less important than the opinion.
The opinion might give us an indication of how far Deep State is willing to go...
Maybe the justice’s lies will rule the day? /s
SCOTUS has become a rubber stamp for Deep State.
It will do whatever Deep State tells it to do.
Oh wonderful. 9 deep state, unelected lawyers get to tell us what the Constitution really says even though we can read it for ourselves and understand it ourselves. Only their “interpretations” matter.
“Chief Justice John Roberts ... “
Nothing they do would surprise me, given that information. Owned and operated by the deep state.
I’ve got a bad feeling about this.
I really should not be on the edge of my seat here.
Conservative court... mandating an experimental and ineffective therapy on individuals so the “collective” feels better.
Should be a slam dunk, yet I’m worried.
And it will be 6-3 against any mandate. Power is in the States.
I see the Court as three factions. Unfortunately, the divide results in a rubber stamp of pretty much anything the Government wants to do. I would be shocked at a ruling against the vax mandate.
Faction 1: the Liberal three. Law schma, here is the result we want, here is the result we get. Our law clerks will make up some of that law schit to say whatever we want the law to be.
Faction 2: the Coward, his femme bot sock puppet and the Scorned accused sexual assaulter desperate for re-admission into the Deep State club. Making all the right noises as if they were principled jurists but at the end of the day liking for the dodge to avoid having to decide and, hence, preserving the status quo.
Faction 3: the Jurists- show us the facts, law, and precedent. Sometimes with that your side will lose and sometimes it will win. But it will be based on the law and not political philosophy.
I suspect they'll punt and say No to feds and suggest this is a matter for the states to decide.
Sotomayer showed she has no business anywhere near decisions affecting the rest of the country. Her offering total lies as her basis of support of mandates tells you she is a political tool for the left.
Mandates for everyone is not going to be supported today. Maybe health care workers will have to be vaxxed, but on a strict basis of law, this should be a no-brainer to uphold the stay on ALL the mandates, Federal and local.
So Federal government- the link hasn’t been updated for 2022 opinions.
Why should there be federal funding for something that’s unconstitutional?
Please don’t bollix the title.
The title of the news story at KOMO is “Court watch: Supreme Court set to issue opinions Thursday”
There’s nothing in the title about vaccine mandates.
Listened to so many oral arguments in my career. Shocking how so many prove irrelevant to the written opinion. It leaves one wondering why the oral argument was even had.
Then you learn about the arm twisting and wrangling that goes on behind the scenes. John Roberts likely will have twisted and threatened his way to the opinion the Deep State wants.
I pray that you are right, and believe that would be the correct ruling. However the trend line we are currently on strongly suggests they will use this opportunity to grant more federal power, which will be used as a precedent to enact even more mandates that increase their control over the citizenry. Hopefully that changes today but I’d be very surprised.
Much like Roberts did in saving the Affordable Care Act as a tax.
