Eating Lots of Avocados doesn't benefit the Mexican People, Only Narco-Cartels

Think of this when buying avocados at the store or ordering them on Mexican food:

News Item: Four Bodies were decapitated, then hung from a freeway overpass.

(How could that even be done?)

US agriculture can solve this problem by GMO’ing avocados (and coffee and cocoa) to be cold hardy so we can grow them farther north.

It’s going to happen and when it does, I’m going to plant a coffee hedge around my fence line and two avocado trees in the front yard.

I was going to suggest buying California avocados, but.... Pick your poison.

This is a very odd post.

Also, I very much enjoy avocados.

It helps to have your own tree. The crop right now is pretty small because I had to do major trimming. Earlier in the year, the crop was several hundred and they were huge -— not those tiny hard skin ones you see at the store. I had some monsters.

Years ago I lived in Newport Beach and had an Avocado tree in my back-yard.

They grow everywhere in southern CA.

I believe San Luis Obispo County is the number one avocado producing county in California. That is somewhat northerly, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Need to be cold hardy to -10 below for my zone.

The orchards around here would be replanted in avocado trees in a nanosecond if they were.

And we have way more water than Freakifornia.

The Hass avocado was first developed in La Habra Heights, just over the Orange Curtain (Orange County line) from my home in La Habra. The original tree, planted in 1926, stood until 2002.

I don’t care about any of them. I eat avocados because they’re delicious

I buy avocados grown in California. Mostly from the farmers market, but you can have them shipped to you.

I thought it was father South. In the last few years the farms in Santa Cruz County have added a lot of organic avocado trees. We get way more now than we did two years ago. The largest one in Northern California is in Corralitos, but I haven’t seen the couple since the pandemic started.

I don’t buy food to benefit anybody I’m not feeding. And really most of America’s avocados come from California.
