One of the sharpest critics of the American troop withdrawal from Afghanistan this past summer says the episode left the United States “showered with shame.”
Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, who earlier said he can’t think of a bigger “mess up” in his lifetime than the way the Biden administration handled the evacuation of Americans and Afghan allies from Afghanistan, again criticized the removal in a Senate committee hearing Wednesday.
The first-term senator said he wanted to talk about the decisions to go into Afghanistan and what lessons the U.S. might have learned or done differently.
“But I can’t move on to that without acknowledging the fact that we have, in many respects, been showered with shame in the way we left,” Romney said. “One, I think a disastrous decision by the prior administration to surrender to the talks and the agreement we entered into, and continuation of that decision by the current administration, and then, of course, its fateful execution of the withdrawal.”

Someone should collect a dossier on all of the shameful showers.
I’m ashamed of Pierre Delecto
too little too late for this POS.....
One day people will be lined up to shower him with something else.
Sorry, Romney, but Biden was your candidate, so you own his mess too.
I voted 3rd party in 2012 knowing full well that I was in effect casting a vote for Obama. Mine was more of an F YOU to the GOPe than it was a vote for Obama.
Which begs the question: since they, the magic undies, must touch the body at all times, how are they cleaned?
Yep!! And if you would have had your way it would have been worse by impeaching President Trump. Romney, shut up and own it!!
As much shame as riding with your dog on the roof, Mitt.
At least we’re out of there.
Gang Of Pansies
I usually don’t put much credibility in anything Romney says, but he does know about showers of shame.
He can’t think of a bigger mess-up. His 2012 campaign comes to mind...
That was intentional.
I’m ashamed of Mitt Romney.
And I’m ashamed of Biden.
And I’m ashamed that it’s possible that Biden actually won the majority of the votes. Our citizens might have actually chosen tThe worst candidate ever vs the best candidate ever.
And I’m ashamed that our checks and balances couldn’t determine whether the election was fair or not.
I guess that is a shower of shame. Is that what they mean?
Mittens starting the rehab for a 2024 run.
Where was this Vichy Republican in June, July, & August 2021?
Or on January 6. 2021, for that matter?
Traitorous puke.
Part of the magic is not needing laundering or starching...
I do not believe that I have ever been so wrong about anything else in my entire life. It was similar with Scott Brown. I guess that I am a Sucker for RINOs here in my state.
I do live and learn though. Romney is unbelievably creepy and I feel guilty regarding my former support. How could I have been so stupid?
Well time passes and I consider myself to be marginally improved.
You chose wisely in 2012. Thank You.
