America’s most widely consumed oil causes genetic changes in the brain; Soybean oil linked to metabolic and neurological changes in mice
UC Riverside News ^ | 1-17-2020 | JULES BERNSTEIN

New UC Riverside research shows soybean oil not only leads to obesity and diabetes, but could also affect neurological conditions like autism, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, and depression.

Specifically, the scientists found pronounced effects of the oil on the hypothalamus, where a number of critical processes take place.

“The hypothalamus regulates body weight via your metabolism, maintains body temperature, is critical for reproduction and physical growth as well as your response to stress,”

“The dogma is that saturated fat is bad and unsaturated fat is good. Soybean oil is a polyunsaturated fat, but the idea that it’s good for you is just not proven,” Sladek said.

Indeed, coconut oil, which contains saturated fats, produced very few changes in the hypothalamic genes.

“If there’s one message I want people to take away, it’s this: reduce consumption of soybean oil,” Deol said about the most recent study.

Fortunately there are olive oil based mayos and if you don’t mind peanut butter you have to stir when opened, you can avoid the added oils to make it self stable. I keep mine in the fridge to avoid separation once I’ve stirred it.

Try Sir Kensington brand mayonnaise, made with avocado oil. It is a bit pricey, but it is good.

Soy is hard to avoid because it’s found in many processed foods. When I cook meat, I use olive oil, usually from Italy. I understand that it is best to buy olive oil from a single place or country.

So there’s something true about calling young wimpy males “soy boys?”

By the way, has anyone noticed that young men have high, nasal voices? Seems like a lot of them sound very squeaky. I notice it when I encounter someone my age with a deep voice...there aren't many of those.

Back in the day fast food joints cooked french fries in lard. Now they use vegetable oil. The ones made with lard tasted a helluva lot better, If I recall.

Please, Big Brother, keep out of our kitchens, medicine
cabinets. Just mind your own business and stay outta my
yard!

So soybeans are now a NO
They’re not called soy boys for nothing.

Which is it this week? Do we take an aspirin a day or don’t we?

Enough already!

I hope that my interpretation is correct in that you neglected your sarc tag.

Most no one knows the facts behind rapeseed oil, let alone the health consequences or, for that matter, the incredible propaganda effort underwriting its brand.

Rapeseed or canola is an important cash crop in areas that can’t maintain other forms of agriculture.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try, but anything avocado is a hard swallow for me. They say it’s super healthy. Too bad it doesn’t taste more like chocolate ;)
