It is a safe bet that the governor, her family,her extended family, and her political cronies, will not be treated by members of the National Guard. Only the hoi polloi will suffer that indignity. As is their apparent duty being good serfs.

A lot of NG medical people work in medical or fist responder positions in the civilian world. Good luck keeping the hospitals staffed by gutting the paramedic and firefighting crews throughout the state.
Also a lot of New York NG units are going to be looking up how the state treats UA and awol National Guard troops and finding out that they aren’t subject to UCMJ if they’re not on federal orders.

the problem with that is the Gov can only draw on her own state’s resources - so she is drawing personnel from existing civilian HCW staff who incidentally happen to also be weekendwarriors.
To the left the National Guard is a wind up toy to be used for the implementation of social experiments.
The idiocy of this should be obvious to anyone with half a brain:
1. Fire thousands of workers in an industry that is already under stress.
2. Activate the National Guard to replace those health care workers -- leaving the employers of those NG personnel short of staff.
3. And do all this while millions of employers can't even find enough workers to fill the positions they already have open.
I honestly think an IQ above a mildly retarded level disqualifies anyone from serving in government in New York.
Four Interstate highways connect the New York City area with the rest of the country. A fifth Interstate (I-84) is on the northern edge of the NYC metro area. If truck drivers decided to shut down or block vehicle delivery traffic into the area, all groceries would be emptied within a week. There aren’t enough police or National Guard to control the rioting. This is true for every large metro area, even more so for the West Coast cities.
I wouldn't want to be an insurance company dealing with a claim filed by the family of a patient treated by non-hospital employees.
