I wonder if they have a lot of personnel with the MOS 92M skill level 10 (Mortuary Affairs Specialist Advanced) in their Quartermaster units?

NY brought the world Tammany Hall style politics complete with vote fraud bribes and murder.
Howard Dean in his 50 State Initiative said they had to emulate Tammany Hall.
They flat out told us what they were doing.
I hate living here in NY.

So what happens when this dufus discovers that the medically traine personnel in the National Guard are mostly people working in other hospitals and all she has managed is to create new shortages? You call up Sue or Sam who are working at hospital “A” to relieve a shortage at hospital “B” only to find that you are now shorthanded at hospital “A”

It is kind of like what happened with governor. They fired one idiot and promoted another idiot to take his place. Somewhere a village is still missing its idiot.

This doesn’t appear to be the brightest of ideas.

Last month, Gov. Kemp of Georgia deployed National Guard to several hospitals within the state to help deal with the surge in COVID19 cases.

That is a perfectly logical thing to do. By contrast the NY Governor established a rule with little scientific basis and created a shortage of health care professionals at the very moment the state may need them the most. That's dumb, or some kind of plan intended to create a worse situation.

There is little evidence that a vaccinated person cannot carry and transmit the COVID-19 virus to others. The vaccinated person is safer from serious consequences of their infection, which is a good reason for many people to get vaccinated, but it also results in people who are asymptomatic, or have very light symptoms who are actually spreading COVID-19 to the people around them.

The unvaccinated worker is apparently not much more likely, if at all, to transmit the virus to somebody else if they are infected than the vaccinated person.

Denying jobs and discriminating against people because they happen to not have consented to take a medical treatment is a very bad step for society. Freedom includes the right to not do things.

Speaking of legal challenges to New York's mandate Hochul said she feels "very confident about our chances in court" and cited a Supreme Court ruling that "communities have a right to self-defense."

Is that so? Then we have a right to defend against an illegal invasion of criminal illegals. And whatever else threatens our liberties.

The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one.

Apparently Hochul has no idea that there are documented outbreaks of COVID-19 in populations where more than 90% of the people are vaccinated. They'll never get to 100% anywhere simply due to travelers, illegal immigrants, people whose vaccinations have lost their effectiveness, etc.

This is going to fail spectacularly.

So let’s break this down

The NYS National Guard probably has around 2000 qualified medical personnel. Actual nurses, doctors or technicians.

Now, most of these folks will be working that job in their civilian job. So you lose one medical personnel for every one you gain.
And you have to put these folks on state active duty (SAD) orders which really suck. Plenty of folks will be pissed. And that is going to take at least a week to mobilize them.

Plus at least half of them are unvaccinated. Replace unvax with unvax????

And many of these activated folks are going to be so pissed that they really gum up the works. There is no union in the military but there might as well be...everything from unable to start due to a missing piece of paper to a “stop work” over a perceived safety issue. Plus, there is no incentive to work on lousy SAD orders...lots of ghosting.

What are you going to do with someone who goes and watches YouTube for five hours? Fire them? YOU CANT and they don’t want to be there anyways.

Net will be an additional loss of at least 1000 qualified medical personnel in the NYS medical system.

Oh I would guess there is way less than a weeks supply of groceries in NY City. With just in time delivery and the costs of cold storage I’d guess the stores would be emptied overnight as soon as people realized there was a blockade. Topple a couple of high tension lines at the same time and watch what civilizational collapse looks like. The Brits were able and willing to queue for years during the war and more years after. We can’t get Americans to queue on Black Friday and that is one day.

So she’s taking people from jobs where they know what’s going on and putting them into places they’ve never been.

Of course. Nothing increases productivity and reduces mistakes like making people travel away from home and work in a strange environment with people they don't know. It makes it much faster and easier for them to find needed supplies, respond to patient emergencies, and deliver complex medical care.

Anyone who has ever visited a large hospital knows you can find your way anywhere you need to go in minutes.

My mom was in the hospital recently and got to talking to one of her nurses. Her nurse said many of her colleagues were burning out and leaving the profession before the vaccine was even developed. Now the vaccine mandates may push the nursing shortage to a breaking point. I am vaxxed, but I don’t believe either the state or the federal government has the authority to mandate vaccines.

If the medically trained NG members are also the laid off health care workers, then what?

Just for the record last Sept 26, 2019 before anyone was vaccinated the 7 day moving average for new covid cases in NY was 1,007 this September 26 after millions of New Yorkers have been vaccinated the 7 day average of new cases is 3,372. That is some dandy vaccine you got there governor. Maybe instead of firing people you ought to ask Dr Fauci and Slow Joe why the hell the thing doesn’t work. Shouldn’t cases be going down? Or am I missing something? Oh yeah I forgot the vax doesn’t keep you from getting and spreading the #FauciFlu but it will keep you from dying right. Except deaths are up from 5 a day to 42 a day. That is 8x for the math impaired.

So bottom line is you have a vaccine that doesn’t work and a shortage of help and you are going to aggravate the shortage of help by firing anyone who will not take the vaccine that doesn’t work. Brilliant.

They aren’t taking Guard in general, they’re taking medical Guard units specifically. So they’ll mostly have medics, who have training in some stuff but certainly aren’t fully trained to the level they think they are. Medics are closer to paramedics than licensed nurses. Army nurses aren’t nearly that prevalent, they actually have their bsn and are commissioned officers.

And again, most of these people likely work in a field that utilizes those skills, so it’ll be hospital staff, paramedics, and firefighters likely the most pulled out for this deployment...
