GRIFTER ALERT: Former Kyle Rittenhouse Lawyer Wants $2 Million Back
BigLeaguePolitics ^ | 09/25/2021 | Albert Turkington

Posted on 09/25/2021 3:09:55 PM PDT by TexasGurl24

In what seems to be a near-perfect example that the love of money is the root of all evil, a stunning turn of events has rocked the trial saga of Kyle Rittenhouse, the teenager who is currently on trial for the crime of defending himself against politically protected thugs during the Kenosha riots over a year ago.

According to The Hill, attorney Lin Wood, who was previously one of Kyle Rittenhouse’s defense lawyers but has since left to work on pursuing clarification regarding the 2020 election, sent a letter to Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Schroeder that was dated the 17th of September. In the letter, Wood sought to inform the Circuit Court Judge that should Rittenhouse be found not guilty of what many would describe as the politically-motivated charges brought against him in conjunction with his display of self-defense during the BLM-related riots in Kenosha last year, the $2 million in bail money is to be returned to the Fightback Foundation, the main non-profit organization involved in raising the bail money from volunteers.

This action has sparked considerable displeasure from several circles, most notably the Rittenhouse family themselves, most likely due to the fact that court proceedings against Kyle Rittenhouse have yet to be concluded. According to Wisconsin law, bail money of an acquitted party is to be returned to the legal person that posted the bail, which in this case would be the Fightback Foundation, within 30 days of the acquittal.

I’m certainly no fan of Wood but the headline makes it look like it’s his $2 million and he wants it back. But the article completely contradicts the headline.

The foundation posted the bail and if he is acquitted the foundation will get back to bail money. Wood is just putting the court on notice so that they don’t give it to the wrong person should he be acquitted. Hard to get back to million dollars from somebody if it is sent to the wrong person.

Maybe I misunderstood how bail works.

You pay bail to be out while wait for, and during, your trail.

Guilty or innocent, you get is back when you show up.

No?

Who thought of this title?

Lin Wood is kind of a screwball, but if that Foundation posted the bail, then if Kyle is acquitted, the bail money goes back to the Foundation.

I mean...what am I missing here?

Is this a mispost?

I thought bail was posted in order to make sure the defendant showed up for trial. What would guilt or innocence have to do with that?

If Fightback Foundation posted the bail then by law they will get the bail money back regardless of the verdict because innocent or guilty once the verdict is in the bail is negated. Wood doesn’t need to tell the court that.

What it sounds like toe is that Linwood is requesting the money be returned to the Foundation and not to the specific person who posted it on behalf the foundation.

As I understand it...

If the bail is $200,000, you as the defendant, have to put up
10% or $20,000 dollars. The bail firm would then put up the
remaining $180,000 collars.

That 10% / $20,000 would not be returned to you. If you
show up and are found guilty or innocent, the bail money
is returned to the bail firm.

Your $20,000 would be the fee for getting the bail firm to
put up the $180,000.

Those reading this. Please correct me where I’m off base
if I am.

If there's a grifter alert in all this I think it's with the Rittenhouse family since they Tweeted "While we're busting our humps trying to raise money and see Kyle acquitted, Lin Wood is sending letters to the court DURING Kyle's hearing to demand $2M in donations FOR KYLE be given to HIM." The donations went to Wood's foundation. They posted bail. Bail should be returned to them and not Rittenhouse.

Sheriff Clarke also doesn't think highly of Lin Wood.

Attorney Lin Wood is a GRIFTER. He exploited Kyle Rittenhouse and let him sit in custody after setting up a go fund me. He is not even licensed to practice law in Wisconsin where the incident occurred. Wood is a SHYSTER.#rittenhouse is innocent.https://t.co/RLQgGdsMiD— David A. Clarke, Jr. (@SheriffClarke) September 25, 2021

Neither does Kyle's current legal defense fund:

Yesterday, Lin Wood/Fightback were forced to provide an accounting of funds raised for Kyle Rittenhouse

The accounting was littered with verifiable and demonstrable inaccuracies.

Today, he starts his day by attacking us and the Rittenhouse family.

That is how it should work.

I bailed someone once, 10k

It was annoying cause it took over a year to get back, and i kept stressing that the court would pull something underhanded and keep my money

Plus they wanted my ss# and all kinds of other stuff..

If there was a next time I would just give 1k to a bondsman probably.

The donations went to Wood's foundation.

So people donate to Kyle Rittenhouse's bail, and Lin Wood walks away with the money. Taking 100% processing fee is classic grift from a classic grifter.

Why wouldn’t they return the bail money either way? If his is acquitted, or sent to prison? Bail is to ensure the accused doesn’t flee between arrest and verdict or sentencing.

I suppose there is an issue about his alleged “move” to another state but afaik he is has not fled and is willing to stand trial.
