The Chinese government has banned under-18s from playing online games for more than an hour a day, and then only between 8pm and 9pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
The ban will be enforced by online gaming companies which are now required to strictly enforce rules requiring users to register accounts with their real identities in order to play.
It follows shares in China's biggest online gaming companies slumping after state media branded their products "spiritual opium" and compared them to "electronic drugs" earlier this month.

Not only Hollywood is getting hit in China, all the gaming companies that do online games too.
I’m tempted to say “Broken Clock”, and at least give them points for trying. That said, in a healthy society healthy families would be able to do this themselves.
Neither my society nor my family is healthy in this way, so I am afflicted by pangs of envy.
Strange
Yeah I gotta say, this might not be a bad idea.....but the motivation behind it however.....
It is a generally a good step in the right direction IMO.
Time to break out the Nintendo
They are doing it because they want the Chinese to be the survivors and not to have their developing minds put to mush by excess online gaming.
This is a really good idea. We blocked games on our home Internet, and restricted it to two hours a day on non-school days.

A bigger problem than gaming is porn. Understand we can’t do much about adults with it, but we gotta try to limit the youngsters from having free unlimited access to it.
Not everything the ChiComs do, is bad; just 99.99% of what they do is bad. This is the other 0.01%
You get all that from sports with the added bonus of physical fitness.
Since communists are supposed to be atheists, I would say that mainland China has not had a healthy society since 1949, at least.
Here’s a crazy idea, do both.
I did, and do, both still.
I haven’t had coffee yet. My second sentence structure is terrible, but I stand by the intended point.
What a difference. We give toddlers computer toys as soon as we can “program” the kids.
The real motivation I suspect...
“...users to register accounts with their real identities in order to play....”
According to Winston Sterzel, aka SerpentZA on Youtube, the Chinese are shutting down schools that teach English. I find it interesting that the Chinese no longer want citizens speaking English. Of course, children of the elite will probably be allowed to learn it. My cousin’s wife teaches English online to Chinese children. Wondering is she’s out of a job.
The unparalleled rise of obesity in China: a call to action
Holy moly...
Stupidity......
By screwing with game players and girls wearing or wanting to wear Daisey Mae shorts, the CCO is bringing about it’s own destruction
