Maine theater cancels season after pushback to its vaccine policy

A Maine musical theater was forced to cancel its fall schedule after refunding $36,000 worth of tickets in the days since announcing a COVID-19 vaccination policy, according to a report.

The Brunswick-based Maine State Music Theatre was buried in refund requests after saying on Friday that theater-goers would have to prove they’ve either been vaccinated or tested negative for the coronavirus, The Portland Press Herald reported.

“Not selling a ticket is bad,” artistic director Dale Clark told the newspaper. “Having to refund a ticket that you have already sold, that’s a lot worse.”

Clark blamed pushback against the new policy and “general concerns about the virus” for the refunds of hundreds of tickets.

I have walked out on appointments due to the sudden insistence on masks. It wasn’t mentioned when I made the appointment, so they changed the terms, not me. I haven’t been charged for these missed appointments.

The resistance is starting to grow and its growth will become exponential as the realization of what this Administration is and continues to do to us grows.

Destroying the American economy (i.e., capitalism) is ...

They may very well hurt the world’s economy but they will never “destroy” capitalism.

Capitalism (unlike Communism) works because it goes with human nature. A person’s labor has value if they don’t earn what they are worth they will do one of two things, stop working or enter the underground economy.

The great loser in all this will be governments tax revenue since the underground economy does not pay taxes (or fees).

(at least that is my take on how things work)

Your points are valid, of course, and “destruction” is hyperbole. The Democrat/Communist/Left Party is not capable of eliminating capitalism (although that is clearly their objective), but they can sure do damage to it in the minds of Americans who remain in an 18-month-long covid stupor. Cheers!

American music was largely developed in the interior States. Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Missippi, and Missouri are the cradle of jazz, blues, and rock n roll.

The big Yankee cities just co-opted it all. I believe Rolling Stone Magazine was created specifically to try to rewrite the history of rock and roll, and create the illusion that it was invented by left wing hippies in San Francisco, instead of God-fearing patriotic Southerners, in the Bible belt.

Let all the Blue State theaters, night clubs, and music halls go dark. The Heartland will still thrive.

Please, Penn State, enact these same requirements for Beaver stadium. I would like nothing more than to see a big, empty stadium for home games. Break the entire, stinking thing.

While my dear ol’ Mom was still around, we were season ticket holders at MSMT. It gave us wonderful together time as the years went by, and she descended into dementia. I loved watching her mouth the words silently to all the tunes in “South Pacific” and many others. She was a great old gal.

Oh well. If they want to close permanently after a century or so, it’s on them.

I saw that in Moscow the mayor tried to force businesses to require proof vaccination for their customers. The people just stopped shopping and then businesses began to bitch at the mayor when their sales plummeted.
Fortunately the mayor caved.
